    Took less than a week after NYR lost before they fired Gallant.

    Gonna be an interesting couple of weeks here

  2. softkake

    Curious to hear if Dubas still believes in the core the way he has expressed in every previous press conferences.

  3. coaltrainman

    Expect the same stuff from the players. We played hard, couldn’t get it done. We’ll do better. Pucks deep kind of stuff.

    From everyone else who knows.

  4. Skiffy10

    Lebrun just tweeted that Dubas will be available to speak

  5. TheLoomingMoon

    I just want someone to call out the refs

  6. chadocaster

    Awesome. Can’t wait to hear the dumbest questions from media members more concerned with losing access than asking anything anyone wants to know.

    In that hushed, deferential tone:

    “*What will you take away from this group?*”

    “*Can you talk about how special the guys in that room are?*”

    They’ll let the players, coaches, and management off the hook.

    Was last year or maybe the year before when Simmons (I think) asked an actual question that wasn’t a softball, after years & years of failure and “running it back”…and he was mocked for it b/c ppl don’t like him. Fine. Me neither. But it’s like other reporters and fans have amnesia regarding the massive team flaws & repeated failures and get angry at him for asking something other than a “*talk about…*” question.

    The whole thing is a joke. No one will ask anyone anything but softball, sentimental questions.

    That’s good, it’s too early for the west coasters to jerk to

  8. Neighbourhoods_1

    There’s zero incentive for anything meaningful to be said here

    management won’t throw anyone under the bus because they don’t want to hurt trade values or professional relationships

    players won’t admit their shortcomings because they’re looking for paydays

  9. Zombie_John_Strachan

    The only thing the defence saved was a week of greens fees

  10. pondscum31

    Dubas will say the carbon copy of what he says every year …… I have faith in this group….. yada yada yada …. I don’t really want to hear anything but either goodbye … or you were right this core can’t get it done I know what has to be done and I will do it I promise

  11. NatureGivesAndTakes

    Anyone who expects Dubas to trash the core and coaching doesn’t know how media availability works. Even though he could be thinking of making changes, he’s not going to throw anyone under the bus because he needs to consider the optics as well as protect their trade value.

    Not much of substance will be said tomorrow in my estimation.

  12. If y’all are looking for Keefe to be fired, you’re gonna be disappointed.

  13. HistorianMassive1111

    Where’s Fred Vanvleet when you need him?

  14. Toddmacd

    Same questions same answers and then a radio show and podcast to talk about it. Then… get to the good stuff – who’s staying and who’s going!?

  15. LowHangingLight

    JT “Thought we had our chances…just didn’t execute, didn’t capitalize”

    Matthews *audible sigh* “Yeah it’s a tough pill to swallow. We were getting our looks out there”

    Marner “Obviously sucks right now. Doesn’t feel good. We got a lotta belief this room though. I’m still a ramblin, shamblin man”

  16. Western_Potential790

    I know it’s been cliche to say I’m done with this team, but if they try and run it back yet again, does anyone else feel like that might break you as a fan? Close to 40 years invested here and it’s the first time I ever thought about what it would be like to try and take my fandom elsewhere.

  17. Fireinthehole13

    Has anyone heard from the biggest ghost of all Brendan Shamahan ?

  18. Marner gonna tell us how they all have “years left” on their contracts.

  19. Can’t wait to hear about the lessons learned this year

  20. monkeywork

    Dubas will make comments along the lines of there were steps forward this year and obviously still more to go, how his contract status isn’t a distraction at all and he’ll keep doing the best for the team until he is no longer working for them, that he believes in his group and is happy for what they accomplished.

    Shanny will be incredibly vague and talk about how he understands how the fans feel and that he was hoping for better results as well and that he and the board will be discussing with Dubas and making plans over the next few weeks on what changes will be required to avoid this in the future.

    Sheldon will talk about how tough Florida were, he might make a slight very weak comment about the officiating (I doubt it), will make a point about talking about how much the players cared and were upset they couldn’t get it done. He’ll have lots of praise for JoWo, Morgan, Willy, and will talk up how defensive and physical AM34 and Mitch were.

    In the next few weeks you’ll see:

    * Dubas is re-signed
    * Matthews is re-signed and named Captain
    * Murray is traded
    * Luke is re-signed
    * A TON of Marner & Nylander trade rumours will float around
    * Sheldon is fired and replaced by Bruce Boudreau

    Once this is done I don’t have to pay attention to any other game until October.

  22. Coolsbreeeze

    We really have some really dumb fuck Leafs fans. Matthews is a money making machine for MLSE. Why on gods green earth would they trade him/ What, because you don’t like it? Last I checked Larry Tannenbaum and the MLSE board don’t give two fucks about your feelings. It’s all about making money.
