Tatar high stick on Aho – Have your say!

Tomas Tatar wasn’t pleased about Sebastian Aho crosschecking him in the back, so he took a wild swing with his own stick, hitting Aho in the head and neck area. The call on the ice was a two minute minor for high sticking. Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!

  1. Not a fan of either team but if you axe chop someone with your stick i dont think you should be allowed to play hockey again

  2. If this is only 2 mins, teams should do this in every game to the best players of the opposing team. Multiple times.

  3. I mean, this could definitely be 2 for roughing. Calling a high stick is fine, too. They missed the cross check and caught the retaliation, which is what you have to figure will happen.

Honestly, I don’t even know if the stick actually catches him or if it’s just that hand. Either way, you figure a vet like Tatar would have more self control there, but it’s so early the series frustration must be wearing in him.

  4. The more I look at this, the more it looks like the stick doesn’t even make contact and it’s just the elbow/forearm.

  5. The announcers calling Aho's stick motion a crosscheck is a fucking joke. If you think that's a crosscheck I think this might be your first time watching hockey. He's literally brushing past the dude. Even the co-announcer let the guy talk and then said "m8 that happens 25 times a game." You could tell he needed 30 seconds to come up with a way to say "wtf are you talking about" is some polite manner that wouldn't completely invalidate whoever it was. (I can't be bothered to learn espn announcers sorry).

  6. Considering what Aho has been doing with his stick lately (see: Jack Hughes) maybe we should be talking about Aho and suspensions, and not whether or not Tomas Tatar only gave Aho what he was begging for.

Twenty years ago, someone would have ripped Aho's head off for that stuff, never mind a love tap across the helmet.

This does not fall into the category of "Tough Call". More like "poetic justice" or "the ref saw what you did and figured everyone's even".

  7. Looks most similar to the Hertl retalitory high stick on Lindholm earlier this year, except with much more force behind it. I believe Hertl got 2 games, so should be 2 here as well

  8. You cant even tell at that angle or speed if his stick even touched his head, thats as much of a high stick as martinhook deserved a penalty shot

  9. Aho fucked around and found out i would deffo give tatar fine maybe 1 game suspension for this as this crossed line a bit but i dont get why canes send their biggest star to spark some bs it should been some 4th liner doing this

  10. It's safe to say L'il Sebastien wasn't expecting that level of response. Tatar is not a physical player at all.

  11. Chris Simon got a 30-game ban from a similar cheap shot, so that should be the minimum suspension.

  12. That was Intent To Injure, period!!! He should be out for the rest of the Playoffs and most of next season!!!

  13. The excessive violence in this case is blatant. Tatar committed attempted murder. Call the police and have Tatar charged.

  14. aho, 2 min for crosschek
    tatar, 2+2 min for violence
if AHO miss next game, than fine tatar 5000

  15. Aho was asking for it, don’t cross check the kidneys you don’t get smacked. Simple as that. Now if Tatar just did that for no reason I see a suspension. But you can’t be an assh*ole and then play victim

  16. I don't watch NHL but did Hurricanes revenge this? I heard the team was built around Aho? Is there any able police players on roster? Just curious?

  17. That wasn't a high stick,it was a slash to the head😱5k is peanut's was he banned for at least 10 games as well?
