Carey is by far the best 5th overall draft pick of all time

  2. A_Habs_fan

Wow, Blake Wheeler drafted by the Coyotes, it’s been a long time since I’ve been reminded of that

  3. Doesn’t exactly work that way lol, but still it’s not bad.

Some damn fine players, and then Karl Alzner….!?!?

  5. Emer1929

I thought Dal Colle was going to be a unit.

I’m gonna look at the duds and see if they were reaches.

Also we single handedly made 5th Oa better than 3 OA statistically.

Basically, if you’re not the Islanders, thing should be fine

Hell yeah baby Karl Alzner. Just got reminded that we still have his contract buyout as dead cap space.

This just makes me want to take Michkov more if he is available. Not a ton of “stars” true difference makers on this list. I’d shoot my shot for him here.

    Notable 5th overall picks not on the list: Raffi Torres(Isles 2000), Eric Brewer(Isles 1997), Damon Langkow(Bolts 1995), Rob Niedermeyer(Panthers 1993), Darius Kasparaitis(Isles 1992), Jaromir Jagr(Pens 1990), Bill Guerin(Devils 1989), Petr Svoboda(Habs 1984), Tom Barrasso(Sabres 1983), Scott Stevens(Capitals 1982), and Rick Vaive(Canucks 1979)

Some solid players with long careers and couple Hall of Famers for flavour. Lots of potential at this spot for sure

Imagine having Carey Price, a former 5th overall pick, passing the torch to Matvei Michkov if he gets drafted by the Habs.

Both their current contracts end in 2025-2026.

Petterson Caliber player would be pretty delightful!

Unfortunately a bad list lmao. Luckily we’re in a deep draft and some of the top 5 would be top 1 in other drafts. As many says for exemple, Slafkovsky would be like in the 7th-12th range if drafted this year.
