  1. 2:07 Great tackle, but Joost Van Der Westhuizen is not a little guy, he was 188cm. Still a great tackle, Rest in Peace to that legend

  2. Damian Mckenzie tackling Nemani Nadolo out of the field is propably my favorite tackle and one I'd recommend for part two

  3. Love when a big guy tries to stand a little guy up expecting some biff and then just get their legs taken from under them. My old man used to say it doesn’t matter how big he is, he can’t run without two legs! Grabbing hold of one and not letting go will do the trick. He also used to say it’s the fight in the dog that counts… which is true because I’ve seen many a big dog flee in terror from a Jack Russel!

  4. Taqele Naiyaravoro features a few times and at Murrayfield in 2015 v Edinburgh whilst he was at Glasgow he was given a torrid time by Tom Brown who tackled him superbly all match!
Sure Sam Johnson and Nick Grigg put some great tackles on Manu Tuilagi in the 2019 Calcutta Cup.
Favourite of mine was Finn Russell on Samu Manoa, Scotland v USA 2015 RWC, big dump tackle from Finn which surprised everyone!

  5. Weird thinking of Joost as the little guy. He was pretty big for a 9, but compared to Lomu, most would be the little guy.

There was a tackle late in 2022 made by Edwill van der Merwe from the Lions on a Bulls forward, that would be at home in this video.

  6. It's literally all positioning, no one can keep running without their legs.

At school and club I was never a great rugby player in offence, or the fastest, or the biggest (at only ~80kg) but I was always one of the top defenders. I often got man of the match in losing games because the other team usually had the majority of possession and I absolutely shone in defence

  7. The best tackle i can recall from a little guy on big was a Tri-nations game where Breyton Paulse tackles lomu from Behind 5m out from the Try line. Got around and pushed him back into field of play to have Lomu fall short. To Keep that Glorius Lomu clean sheet for South Africa. I have searched and searched but cant find a clip of it.

  8. Weird to make a compilation clearly inspired by a specific moment last weekend and then leave it out. Even if there is some rights issue with the recent games to leave Dupont out entirely makes no sense.

  9. I still remember that Faf tackle on Hughes with sadness. As a Wasps fan, Hughes had been tearing it up in the prem for a while, doing really well. We were so excited for his England call up to see what he could do. Then he gets absolutely obliterated by Faf (among other relatively mediocre performances). And that was that. Faf is a beast. Insane.

  10. 5:02 – Lomu is obviously a legend, but the arrogance of NZ commentators… "Just lost his footing" as Stringer makes a perfect ankle tackle.

  11. 0:36: "It's about two things there: It's about heart. It's about desire. And it's about body position."

  12. I remember the Lomu / Joost moment, I thought "Oh no here we go", but Joost did the job like many could not. I think there may have been 2 successful tackles by him on Lomu in that game. Both legends. However Joost was not small; I met him once in person and was surprised how tall and athletic he was.
