  1. Nice trade by the Canadiens. Most people including myself were thinking Dadonov might get a 4th pick, Maybe a 3rd at best but instead they are able to trade a 33 year old forward for a 25 year old 6'3 205lbs winger who scored 20 goals a few seasons ago and was on pace for around 20 goals the following season. Really fell off last season though with only 11 goals and only 2 in 43 games this year but hopefully a change of scenery can get him back to a 20 goal guy.

  2. Not too happy about it as a Stars fan. The points haven’t been there for Gurianov, but his play has definitely stepped up lately. He gets his chances, it just felt like a matter of time until he found his scoring touch again.
He’s tough on the forecheck, that crazy speed allows him to be the first one in to create chaos, and has a great one-time shot that I haven’t seen utilized in sooo long.

  3. Gurianov reminds me of Nichuskin. Nichuskin had that quick speed, but the SAME DAMNED MOVE every time coming into the net. He could beat defenders on the outside and hit the net hard, but could not finish. Nichuskin found success with Colorado and was instrumental in their Stanley Cup victory. As a huge Stars fan, it was great to see Nichuskin have some serious success, and Lord did they back a Brinks truck up to Val's house to pay him!

Dadonov is currently a point per game player after coming over. 2 assists and 1 goal in 3 games. I hope Gurianov has the chance to find success in Montreal, but man they are an absolute dumpster fire of a hockey team right now. Dadonov's offensive ceiling increased with the trade, as he's got some better supporting players in Dallas.

  4. The Montreal Canadiens is a rebuilding team that traded a 35 year old UFA that was acquired by trading Weber’s cap hit for a 25 year old project that could potentially be a dependable goal scorer. Guri now has 2 goals and an assist in seven games playing 3rd line next to a waiver pick up and Rem Pitlick (first goal off of Suzuki’s pass). The only downside is his qualifying offer which can be dealt with.. no matter how good Dadonov pans out for the remainder of his career.. it is literally impossible for the habs to lose this trade. KH made something out of a hole in the Cap. If Guri becomes a regular mid six player than it’s a huge win, if he drops then meh. In fact, I’d argue that Dadonov playing well looks good for the habs future deadline trades if anything after Lekhs going to the caps and winning the cup and all.. even if it’s a little, KH is building a rep of not screwing people over.
