Zadina just isn't that good. Not all high draft pics are going to work out. He's a smallish scorer that just doesn't score enough. Where is his value? They've been telling him that he has to go to the dirty areas of the ice, work on scoring from there and stop shooting from way outside all of the time. That said, it's not a work ethic problem with him it's a simple lack of ability. I'm surprised that the Wings have been as patient as they have been with him but it's time to part ways and bring in somebody else whose waiting in the Wings (no pun intended) for a chance, there are surely many of them so let's take another kick at can. See if perhaps the Habs have any interest. 🙂
DeKeyser's back injury was a very bad one. The problem isn't his age and I don't think he's necessarily finished so perhaps working on his speed and strength in the off season may well get him over the hump and back to a serviceable level. We will see. I hope he can still play. There are teams that will take a long look at him. He was highly coveted when he came to Red Wings. There's no immediate reason to give up on him just yet. Last time I saw him he had a pretty good game. I want to see Vrana play, just like everybody else.
Stevie's got ice in his veins. While it seems cruel, I feel Steve had no choice. I don't wanna see ddk back on lca's ice sadly, but I would love to see him find an off-ice role within the organization.
Honestly I think Z would flourish under a new coach. I'm not a full on fire blash guy, but I think we all agree he's not gonna be the one taking us through the playoffs. So depending on how much longer we have Jeff I'd like to see us to hang on to him(Z). Not to mention even with his attractive contract and decent advanced stats I gotta imagine his value is pretty low. Idk. Give him another year I say.
I'm sorry for not being able to contain my thoughts in one comment. I agree with everything y'all said. The one thing I would add though is us wings fans should temper our expectations on Vrana's return. Dude hasn't played for a very long time. I hope he comes out ripping em as much as everyone else, but shoulder injury's are rough. Might take a few games to work back the mojo. Hell at the end of the day though I just hope he does play tonight!
I think we r finally seeing why Zadina dropped in the draft. Some GM must have seen this. 🤔
Don't expect that much for Zadina. This is a what have you done for me lately league. He hasn't really shown any flashes of his amateur years. If you want a decent example just look at Oli Joulevi, was fifth overall and we got him on waivers. I wouldn't wait too long to move him if his stats are showing potential. Maybe I'm being too harsh but I don't see him on the team long term. When he does manage to score I feel nothing. He deserves a different look

I think the best bet for the wings with Zadina is to find another team in a similar situation and make a trade around swapping players.
I'd like to see Zedina sign for 3 years or so. It would be a value contract that could net a huge return in 1-2 years when / if he starts scoring.
I just don’t see winning a Zadina trade rn unless yzerman believes what we currently are seeing is his ceiling. His trade value is the lowest it’s ever been right now and I’d rather hang on to him for a few more years to see what he is rather than sell low
