Why speculate on this? The Bruins dominated everyone except the Panthers and Senators this year. Something about the Panthers just allowed them to defeat the juggernaut.
The Sabres scored 6 goals and gave up 20 goals to the Bruins this year.
The future is bright. It just didn’t happen this year.
