Anyone can win a 7 game series. Hockey is variable.
If the Panthers *win the Cup* I’ll start taking being a bubble team seriously, cause it’s happened once. Ever. In fact, only once has a team ranked lower than 5th in a conference won a Cup.
Gonna need more examples than LA before I start celebrating “competing for the wildcard”

Panthers gave up a first plus two expiring contracts for Tkachuk.
Small price to pay.
Hockey has changed so much but one thing never changes. Outside of making the playoffs the regular season means nothing.
But that’s not a lesson for the Canucks. That’s more a lesson for playoff-caliber teams that don’t pace themselves because they burn themselves out before the playoffs. You have to have something left in the tank.
But Shah is right to predict the Canucks will use any excuse to shed picks for win-now mode. He should have specifically named the Canucks in this tweet though because everyone knows who he’s talking about.

The Panthers won the President’s Trophy last season. . They didn’t stand pat last off season and traded for a young star player instead of paying two of their aging core players into their 30’s.
Maybe this isn’t as big an upset as everyone thinks it is.

Panthers are not a bubble team? At least they weren’t when they traded for / signed Tkachuk. They won the Presidents trophy last year
