The Lightning will be without Killorn for a game. Hardly anyone seems to be happy about this one.

My problem is that since the ejection happened so early on it’s essentially a 2 game suspension when nothing happened to Ritchie and Dubois
Shout out to the late Howie Meeker!
Ahh I knew it whatever he's a hit or miss player anyways
Pain.
Reeves of Vegas should have been suspended more than one game for hit to. Motte (Van) ! I was not too happy that med staff allowed Tyler to return right away. His head snapped.
Thank for for always being so dedicated and not posting any fake news and speculation, I’ve been a subscriber for years and I always know when I click on a video of Shannon’s I am not getting click-baited. Keep up the great work, proud to say I’ve been a loyal long term subscriber of this channel.
As an Isles fan I think it's fair. I don't think it was an intentional dirty hit. I would have been fine if they didn't suspend him. But the Gourde hit was a dirty, and reckless, cheap shot. I don't understand how that went completely unpenalized.
Typical "long time listener, first time commenter", but I have to respond to the claims that Tampa was targeting Nelson. Let's be honest, Nelson's played his part in a number of questionable hits/cross-checks throughout this series as well, so, were Tampa players targeting him as response to his antics? Probably. That's no different than any other series in playoff hockey. Killorn's hit was late and was blindside, definitely, but no contact to the head whatsoever (shoulder-to-shoulder) and zero history of disciplinary action, and yet Killorn gets the Ryan Reaves treatment (which was a far more dangerous hit, and included contact to the head, not to mention his history)? Really?
The issue I have is the inconsistency with the suspensions. I think Killorn should have a one game suspension, but they set a standard on a similar hit that Ritchie delivered and that it wasn't worth a suspension. And if Killorn was worth one game, then the Reeves hit on Motte should definitely been multiple games.
Shannon should do a "part 2" of Harold Ballard.
I don’t agree with the 1 game suspension. Watching it, it really wasn’t that bad. It was awkward yeah, but you could see Killorn intentionally skate a bit further up to hit him more from the side and not from behind, he just happened to turn and leaned over right as he hit him. Also i don’t know if I’d call that boarding either, I mean dude was 6 inches from the boards, and he hit his shoulder, yeah it was a blindside hit a bit, but it wasn’t meant to be, and it wasn’t intentional or a high hit or a charge or anything like that, and he returned too, I think the game misconduct was enough. ESPECIALLY if you’re gonna let the Goodrow hit go, and ESPECIALLY if you compare it to what happened with the Ritchie hit last round, and other hits this playoffs like Reaves and Foligno. DOPS is ridiculously inconsistent with their punishments, and you can’t give Killorn a 1 game suspension for that when you did nothing about the other shit, it makes no sense
It wasnt even close to the KIllorn hit. Goodrow wasnt skating when he cross checked Brock Nelson. The momentum was nowhere close nor the collision. Im a fan of yours but I cant stand the cry baby attitude. Brock Nelson held onto Goodrows stick because Goodrow hit him hard. Goodrow was unable to participate in the ongoing play because of nelsons (PENALTY) ya thats right holding the stick is a penalty. Goodrow gave him a parting shot and neither was infracted. So all the crying about the hit and no penalty could easily be Tampa complaining about the holding no call. Im also not okay with the 1 game suspension. Killorn is a first time offender and could of made the hit a whole lot worse. He was given a 5 and removed from the game. That alone is sufficient in my eyes.
Edit: Also if you think Goodrow's hit was a misconduct what about Brock Nelson knocking Maroon over into the net onto his tail bone? There were plenty of dirty hits all around. Everybody got some. The way she goes bud.
Ever since the NHL let Suter go basically with a slap on the wrist for cross-checking Kariya in the face after the play, NHL discipline has been hard to do.
The Lightning just tried to play a game of "beat up Brock Nelson until he can no longer skate"
Nelson looked like he threw himself into the board on both hit ngl. Also if that hit hit was a suspension then how come the Ritchie hit wasn’t? Or the folingo hit on Killorn in rd1?
someone get him a george paros jersey for these videos
The hit Killorn hit wasn't really misconduct or suspension worthy, while Nelson's head hit the glass and it was a blindside, dirty hit from behind, the hit itself really was not anywhere near as violent as we've seen from other players both in this series and in other series'. The hit was just a shoulder to the back hit from behind, not defending the hit (it WAS a dirty hit) but a game misconduct and a suspension for it really does not seem all that warranted especially for a player w/o disciplinary history (Less than two minutes into the 1st period, it was late but not by a whole lot, and again it wasn't even a hit to the head, it was a check to the back and it threw his head into the glass). There have been far far worse hits with clear intent to injure given one game suspensions or even fines. The Goodrow crosscheck to the head into the boards definitely warranted a misconduct and suspension, maybe even a multiple game suspension, there is zero argument to be had there, the hit was most certainly targeted. Schenn also had a blindside hit on Martin behind the Tampa net only about a minute or two before the game-winner and that hit was a terrible one and with the history Schenn and Martin had in the game, it was definitely targeted.
Then throwing it back to the Boston-TB series, Ritchie gets a 4-minor for boarding in one game and a 10 for fighting, and in the next game gets two 5 majors for boarding, and then a 10 major for fighting, and still never was assessed a misconduct or a fine/suspension from the NHL. The inconsistency here is just ridiculous.
Killorn got 1 extra game? In the playoffs that’s a joke it was boarding yes but this us the Conference Finals on the line and he was kicked out early
Shannon I completely disagree with this, I haven’t seen anyone saying anything about holding his stick and while it should’ve been a boarding the fact that he got a game for this and your suspending him again shows killer inconsistencies, if the bolts lost last night he probably wouldn’t be suspended today. I watched the explanation video and everything they said was the exact same thing that happened to yanni gourde and Ritchie didn’t get suspended so in essence you’re suspending killorn for two games.. it just seems like they are trying to give the islanders hope in the series because it’s hits like that all that time that one just ended more awkwardly… goodrow on the other hand should’ve gotten more, but the fact you said the bolts are trying to push the isles around is also way off they’ve out hit Tampa in both games so far. I just see it as the nhl trying to get NYI back in the series
islanders fan here, kilorn 2 minutes boarding, goodrow head targeting with intent should of got 5 and game misconduct.
XD YESSSS love the ref outfit!!!!! <3 =P
DOPS has only succeeded in being constantly inconsistent. Did Killorn deserve 5 and game? Sure. But this ruling is saying this hit was worse than Reaves on Motte who has history. Also multiple infractions against the Lightning in equally dangerous positions this post-season were not penalized or reviewed. (Foligno hit from behind to the head on Sergachev and Krug two handed slash to the head of Johnson got crickets from DOPS).
Huge isles fan here..killorn hit should have been 2 min minor penalty MAYBE 5 min major..definitely not ejection worthy and suspension is absurd..considering he was basically out of the whole game already..HOWEVER the Goodrow hit was assault and battery…I'd be fine if he cross checks him across the shoulders or his numbers and because Brock is a pushover he flies into the boards – he had a bit of stick held after the initial relatively clean hit and needed to let Brock know that he shouldn't be a wuss, definite non call..BUT blindly cross checking him in the back of the neck, right where his spine enters the brain without any protection could literally paralyze him..not only should it have been called as a major with an ejection but he should have got 1-2 game suspension..
Bottom line is the non call didn't affect the game..since the killorn hit shouldn't have been a 5 min major, the Isles didn't lose anything by not getting the 5 min major on the Goodrow hit..and in the end of the day, if you can't score on a 5 min major OR a 40 second 5 on 3..then you don't deserve to win..the Hedman goal was an on the ice shit goal varly should have had..and the kuch game winner was because the Isles didn't play a 60 min game..they smelled OT and that's a loser mindset…all that being said I'm pretty sure Johnston is gonna decapitate either kucherov, sergachev or drop a dirty hit on hedman..fucking refs are to blame for inconsistent whistles
That is a bit harsh…
wah wah wah only 9 forwards no point 5 min pp 5 on 3 and islanders still lose. zero excuse.
I thought Killorn deserved 5 and a game, no suspension. Goodrow 5 and a game and a 1 game suspension.
Just madness that the Ritchie hit last series didn’t even get reviewed and now Killer has gotten basically a 2 game suspension for something bad, but not worse than the Ritchie one. Very inconsistent
I'm not gonna say 2 mins but 5 mins and a game misconduct was fine no need for an extra game
Goodrow should have been suspended too imo. We always complain about our refs here in Europe, but oh boy… There is some really bad ones too in the NHL.
DPS has been inconsistent all season. Why should they change now? Even if the on ice officials got the other hit wrong, DPS could have reviewed it.
Looking at the clip from nhlcom and the crosschecking by goodrow it's just beyond stupid that there isn't anything called for this. Like this is prime example why teams can argue why to have enforcers in their roster so that they can in turn target these idiots and give them payback. But when its playoff hockey and you're literally trading off a penalty to you getting some from of 'justice', can be a decider between you winning the game. Then the question becomes, why should teams be enforcing sensible play from their opponents, what are the refs there for? You've had this notion for few games now, maybe longer, how games had a lot of hits in them. When teams are "trying to be physical" this is exactly the crap you get, and it's just shrugged off by the viewers because the teams affected by it just don't happen to be the one they are rooting for. Like, how about these are humanbeings that are getting in some cases life long injuries because shit like this is ignored.
Bring consistency and actual ruling by refs (or w/e shit panel NHL is using for these rulings) to the game so we're not losing players due to teams taking things too far, cause it's clear the teams are doing fuck all about it.
You keep saying that you don't hate Tampa. You keep showing us otherwise.
I will always love the ref jersey. You should have the Boston hat since it would match. Lol.
Again, imo, there should be ZERO SUSPENSIONS in the NHL playoffs, unless it is serious, Todd Bertuzzi levels.
But nothing happened to Dubois, foglino, or Richie? I find that so insane. It’s a wheel of punishment. It’s either complete bias or they have no idea what they are doing.. not saying the hit wasn’t suspension worthy but just complaining about how inconsistent the league is ab this sort of thing.
Killorn’s hit was a 2 minute IMHO
But they won’t do shit to goodrow for literally cross checking him in the back of the head after the fact and hitting him into the boards. I don’t think Killorn’s hit deserved the suspension, Goodrow’s did
Hardcore Lightning fan here. Killorn's 5 min + game misconduct + 1 game suspension I agree 100% with. Godrow situation I dare not to touch.
Where's the Kadri "rest of the series" precedent?
The department of player safety seems to be handing out suspensions when a series might be too short. Let's be honest there's no ticket revenue and ratings are down. Why would you want a 5 or even potentially 4 game series. Like if theh actually cared then tampa would have gone against cbj and Bruins with a suspended player. I think killorn should have gotten a 5, maybe a game misconduct as we, but to be suspended another game is complete horse shit. They're saying his hit was as bad as reaves head hunting hit.
I still can't get past the Nick Ritchie hit on Gourde. Just 5 minute major. No game misconduct, no suspension. That was the worst of all of these to my mind. I just don't get the NHL player safety department.
They gotta make money somehow by keeping the series going
anything short of murder is only 1 game..what kind of disciplinary committee do they have….totally not responsible and not fair….get the goons out of these decision making procedures
Shannon Id love you to do a top 10 dirtiest NHL team list. Id be very interested to see where Tampa Pay backs a bitch lands
