Canucks news: Josh Leivo signs with the Calgary Canucks (4th player this month)

Forward Josh Leivo has signed a one year, $875k deal with Calgary, making him the 4th ex-Canucks player to sign with the Flames this month.

Also, I’m looking for questions for tomorrow’s Ask Me Anything vlog.

  1. AMA: hey clay love the channel! My question to you is if the Canucks can find a way to move money out wether that be by trades or buy outs, which free agent would you like to see the Canucks sign? Personally for me I’d love to see Sami Vatenen on a reasonable deal come to Vancouver

  2. Canucks are set on their roster with likely using rookie Ds next season. They may take a step back, but it is a short term pain to get out of CAP hell. Season 22-23 will be the best window for Vancouver.

  3. AMA: Some quick fire AMAs
    1) outside of Vancouver of course, who do you think is the team to beat in the West next year, Vegas or Colorado (or Dallas)?
    2) is canadian bacon just ham? And do you just call it bacon there? I live in the states.
    3) if you magically took the 94 Canucks and brought them here from back in time, do you think they would beat the 2020 Canucks if they played? Can teams from that era still compete or has the speed and skill moved past that era if they played head to head.
    4) how do you see the special teams lining up? Who would you think is on PP1 and PP2 and what 4 players would you put on the ice for a short handed situation?

Just thinking out loud ha ha. Thank you for a great channel and keeping us informed!!

  4. I like Leivo and for that price it would have been good to keep him, but at the same time I don't know how long he will be out for, or how long til he is middle-6 fit again, and we have a core lineup we need to work with. In the end we probably need Sutter for PK depth, so will see how it all goes next year. Like the Ferland situation, it is better for us to run on opportunities for players to step up, instead of holding onto players with huge question marks over whether they even play.

  5. Disappointed he wasn’t brought back especially for that price. Even IF he wasn’t 100% back, he’s still better than any of the bottom six RW; actual offensive upside and smarts. Too bad; wish him the best.

  6. AMA can you remember any other NHL Team that signed 4 players from another team like Calgary did signing four vancouver players ? Thanks

  7. AMA: Hi Clay, this has nothing to do with the Canucks’ current situation but, which team was your favourite, 1994 or 2011?

  8. AMA – do u think the canucks are done this offseason? what other moves do they got left?
AMA – do u see the canucks wanting to sign another forward? what about the rumours about hoffman?

  9. AMA Do you think it's possible to trade Louis Erikson or Brandon Sutter before the January 1st season begin?

  10. what do the Canucks have to do to keep Calgary out of their garbage bins? Get away from our trash you scavengers!

  11. Somehow we should have bought out Loui Ericksson and try to improve our offence options. Can't we do something?!?!
