  1. Could be what we need….need some bigger D men now that Nurse thinks he’s to important to hit anybody. Niemalainen stuck out purely because he was doing what no other Oilers defencman does….hit somebody.

  2. Might be too big of a price to pay for Soucy.
As far as the picks, I could see a 3rd Rd pick this year and a 2nd or 3rd in ‘23.
They’d already be getting a forward and D in return.

  3. To be honest, I wish I knew more about Soucy, I see he is a big lad, that's good….does he play on the edge persay…..as we need, as others have mentioned, someone who is going to make our D a little more costly to play against yet sound defensively….I realize it is going to cost us an inflated price, ok fine but he surely needs to check off a few boxes…To me the big Fin is at worst our sixth D man, and our only physical deterrent on the D …Nurse can, just seems to be intermittent now…as is Cece….I would like a dman to play with the Fin who can make that a tandem that increases the need for the opposition's post game ice requirement. If Soucy can play a tough and somewhat mean style, can drop the mitts and has no beefs doing so, can be sound defensively, then as you stated Patrick he seems to fit the bill, but………….I just cannot see Seattle in any way making a deal that unless it benefits them a whole lot more than it will us….so he better be worth it, and I just do not know enough to make any assessment on that.

  4. Soucy would be a great addition . Overpaying would hurt some. We will know by Monday. Great vid as usual Patrick.

  5. If that's the price I'm passing's that's too much for a dmen that's be a third pair most of his NHL career. I like Soucy but I'd much prefer we go after a right shot D, teams have begun moving away from playing d on their offside the analytics drop off when a guy plays his offside and teams have begun running set plays on dump ins to trap that d on his backhand where he is more likely to make a mistake, can't clear the puck or keep the puck in on the ozone line, we've seen Chris Russel get into all kinda trouble when he played is offside. Vegas got eliminated from the post season 2 yrs ago in part because they only had 1 right shot d in their lineup and he was on the third pair, it was the main reason they went after Petro so hard,

  6. Soucy might be a good fit, but Dreidger make no sense at all. That said, "all in" is the type of over-pay that gets Holland in trouble. Also, that's not how the cap works, if you move out 2 players (that are still less cap hit than Soucy), you still need to pay another player to fill the 2nd player on the roster.
