  1. 01:22 "If Jack Wighton walks away from $300k a season for four years from the Raiders on top of giving up $90k for origin football you've got to respect his motivation"

No. You've got to suspect salary cap breaches.

  2. Here is the sad part, he will take a paycut to buy his way in to a grand final, but, i guarentee you Souths will not win a grand final in the next five years…always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

  3. Why all the fuss, it's only Jack Wighton.
5 years after this guy retires nobody will even remember his name, he'll be referred to as "whatshisface"

  4. He should go to the dolphins. Not for the money but for the chance to show himself to his full potential.

  5. What does it say about the Raiders if a guy will play for another team for 1.2 million less.

  6. Jack was a marquee player in 2019. It's 2023 and he's not as good imo as he's being made out to be.

  7. If you want to win the 2023 Premiership, go to the Broncos. This is the year for the Broncos.

  8. Raiders have done well the last few years, even won a finals game last year. The Williams debacle ruined their 21 season.

  9. Raiders stood behind Wighton during his off field indiscretions and now he may stab them in the back.

  10. Most intelligent thing I’ve ever heard Gal say. The idiot reporter is fishing for controversial comment from Gould and Gal and they both just shut him down. Well done Gal, positivity about Reynolds move to the Broncos, I agree that Reynolds looks happy and is playing great footy.

  11. Won't win a comp at south's or dolphins.
Penrith or roosters…. and neither want whighton.
My cousin said whigto was keen to go to Penrith but I can't see panthers paying overs for a centre.

  12. Listen to this “professional journalist” Chammas, just a gossip monger. All he has to offer is “the talk is” and “the mail is”… regurgitating the uninformed speculation he has heard from others. It’s just garbage. I get more intelligence and better considered opinion in the pub. I hope he’s not being paid for this pitiful effort.

  13. Why is it when souths chase a player the media come out with souths to lose players if Wighton signs. If it's the Roosters they know how to manage a salary cap. Buzz etc saying souths could lose up to 8 players. Roosters sign Penrith prop for 2024 and its all fine

  14. Two pretty good options: Souths or Dolphins … Stuart himself left to play for Bulldogs, you can't blame him for needing a change. Even if he's 1.5 million poorer … what does that buy you in Sydney anyway?

  15. souths didnt other Reynolds a longer contract because they thought he was a risk with injurys, nothing to do with ability ,i still think they should of kept Reynolds and othered him 4 years for 650k like the broncos, dumb move,Whiten wants a fresh start away from canberra.and i can see why .a place like the roosters or souths they have so many contacts you meat.Cooper cronk said it just 4 weeks ago ,Players go to roosters because you get meet so many contacts for your post football career that can set you up .He said thats why players go to roosters for less ,Cooper cronks words not mine .i suspect souths are same .

  16. Who is running NRL?
ARL, Referees, Players, Coaches, NRL360 etc..?
Inconsistent with the rulings from every corner.
What is a high tackle NOT a high tackle?

    And who is ruining NRL?
    ARL, Referees, Players, Coaches, NRL360..?

Do they really know and understand their own game and rules?

  17. Mortan bay is in Redcliffe mate chill with the Gel in the hair. Move to the Gold Coast is he going to titans? 😂 or dolphins

  18. Souffs have signed wighton on big bucks, for 4 years, meaning he'll be 31 when he first players for them, but thought Reynolds was too old to offer more than a year extension when he was 31?

  19. I don't think he's wasted at the center. Incredible defender and a powerful ball runner close to the line. You could also work him into lock and play him like Yeo.

  20. I have said it before The salary cap is not a fair system. The draft is better but still not very good, but better.
Wighton should be able to decide his future based on whatever reasons he chooses. Canberra are now complaining about how they fostered this kid and treated him well and offered him good money and he should somehow feel obligated to stay, regardless of his feelings. Souths have been losing great players to other clubs for years, from Ron Coote in the 70,s to Sua,lli last year both to Easts as it happens. The list is very very long. Canberra need to accept the fact when your not going so well players leave. Souths have done a lot of hard work to put themselves in the position they find themselves in today. I remember the days when Canberra had Meninger, Daley, Stuart, etc. and Souths were collecting wooden spoons. Canberra are now learning a few lessons about reality.
It was only a few weeks ago that Nick Politis from Easts did a radio interview and said the reason that Easts attract so many top players and can afford them is that the good players are willing to take less money to play for a club with great management and can foster and treat them well and play with the best players in the comp.
When Souths do exactly the same thing then everyone want to know why. They want audits and make accusations, thats fine but The answer to why clubs like Souths and Easts can attract these players is because they are well managed clubs and well established and have done all the hard work. Souths a few seasons ago bought a few players from outside that nobody really wanted, Cody walker was never really going anywhere at Melbourne now look at him, Tass was another player not really doing anything yet now plays 1st grade got him low $ and nurtured him and now worth more money and became a good player.
Souths this season bought no players none. They let go several players and bought no new players. This argument that is often thrown around about clubs buying a premiership is something all clubs do every club wants to spend money and get the best players, every club. The problem is the best players want to play for your club not the other way around. Cash is great to throw at a player but perhaps throwing opportunities is just as important. Such as potential to win a premiership, to play with other players you admire, play under a particular coach, play in location that works better for your family, play in a position your better suited to, etc.
