  1. I'll eat crow on this one. After the Devils got blown out twice, I did not think they would comeback to tie the series. So now were down to a First to 2 and its looking like a bad night for a goaltender might determine how this series goes. Lets see if the Devils can finally win a game at home to tip scales in their favor.

  2. Surely the rough stuff is coming..complacency when there’s a two game lead..un expected the sea change ..all bets are on …

  3. And just like that, this series is tied!! Coming home with all the momentum, wrap this up boys! Let's go Devils

  4. I think it's time to do a video on the 3 Devils cups, because in only one of them were they a low-scoring trap team. They led the league in scoring in 99-2000. They were second in 98-99, fourth in 97-98.

  5. Devils look like they want it, Rangers skating around like it's the pre season… Sad

  6. I have said on THG posts that Akira reminds me of a young Brodeur. He has excellent vision of the ice, he is almost always in the right position. He doesn’t get rattled, he shrugs off a goal against…. Nothing seems to big for him. The more he plays the more comfortable he looks…. to me this is the future net minder for Devils.

  7. How did Nico not get an interference called against him for “losing his edge” he made contact regardless. The refs are far from consistent in their calls.

  8. Idk if it’s just me but I feel like the lack of intensity and physicality is mainly coming from the inconsistent officiating. The refs in the devils rangers games are calling some of the softest penalties I’ve ever seen in the playoffs meanwhile the kraken and avalanche are basically playing hockey like there are no rules at all. Obviously a lot of the devils players are also just not too familiar with playoff hockey but I still think it has more to do with the refs.

  9. As a Devils fan, I am very happy that the Devils are waking up and showing what they can do, Keep in mind, these are 2 VERY good teams, But the Devils are still kids in many ways. I mention this because in my opinion, what made the difference last night was the team's ages. As the game went on, the Devils kept their foot on the gas and were putting a lot of pressure on the Rangers forcing them to react and skate to match their speed, this of course is to the Devils advantage since they are younger and could keep that speed up for longer. To me, the Rangers by period 3 were looking gassed yet the Devils (being younger) had the energy to keep the pedal firmly mashed to the floor

  10. I think the lack of chippyness/scrums is just due to the way the Devils play. They are tough to hit with their speed and make defensemen that over commit to laying the body look silly. They also don't play dirty, very capable of playing physical but no one is spearing anyone on the ice or throwing any high elbows. They're just here to play their game. It has been fun to watch this team slowly learn how to play in the playoffs and it would be soooo awesome to see them take this series and get at least another round of experience under their belt. But if they play 60 minutes of hockey every night from here on out like they did in Game 4 they are going to be an insanely tough out for any team regardless of how much playoff experience said opposition has.

Also in Game 2 it got super chippy and then if you looked at the ref/linesman the wrong way they were handing out misconducts like candy. So that plays a factor too I believe, the refs have full control of this series.

  11. I agree here that it just doesn't have a playoff vibe in this series. Devils are way more physical than they have been all year, but not that playoff level that I've been seeing everywhere else. As a Devils fan though, I'm fine with that as long as they keep winning.

  12. Better effort but still weird, there's not many chances for either team

  13. As a Rangers fan, it has to be this way. We may end up losing the series but if we are going to win the series, it's not going to be a walk in park, 4 or 5 game series. It's going to come down to the wire and I'm going to lose some hairs but there will never be a Rangers team that wins a Cup that breezes through a competitive opponent

  14. I'm pleasantly surprised that the Devils have been able to lock it down, especially after taking that lead in the third, their defense has – how shall we say – had its moments all season-long.

Love to see Jack Hughes rise to the occasion, he seems to play better when he's pissed off. Hischier and Hamilton have been great as well. Now all we need is for Bratt, Meier and Mercer to get on the board.

  15. I thought going in, on paper, NJD match up well against NYR as far as styles. The season bore that out. They're also, in other ways, evenly matched. They had almost the same overall record. I thought the NYR had an edge in experience and goalie, although Hughes has really owned Shesterkin this year. Experience played a part in the first two games and it still might at some point, although I think NJD have become accustomed to the playoff atmosphere pretty quickly and adversity actually seems to make them stronger, sometimes even within games.

  16. That bitching over a hand pass of all things is hysterical, who tf cares about a fucking HAND PASS(that was passed by a ranger) in a playoff game???

  17. The players on these teams don't HATE each other yet…..but this is going to be the one of many over the next eight years.

  18. Surprised at how quiet msg was with the rangers only down a goal. That place was silent over the past 2 games. Really takes the advantage out of home ice against one of the best road teams in hockey. Devils have all the momentum in that series.

  19. as a rangers fan, you get used to the rangers playing good games, then all of sudden they look like a bunch of school kids!

  20. I’m ashamed of my team, showing up like it was a preseason game. No intensity no pride. I wish I wasn’t a fan. They torture us fans unmercifully. Where is their pride? They’re making a mockery of playoff hockey. The Devils deserve to take this series. I apologize to the league on behalf of my stinking team.

  21. "It would have been understandable if Blackwood's got more experience."

If Blackwood never sees the ice again in a Devils sweater, it'll be too soon.

  22. I’m a Devils fan and after being out scored 10-2 in the first 2 games. I had them written off. No way did I see them winning 2 games at MSG

  23. It looks to me like the older team members are slightly out of gas compared to the younger kids on both teams. This could contribute to the difference. Hopefully they bring that back to NJ and win game 5, that could be the difference in the series.

  24. Lindy is the coach so he makes the lineup decisions at the end of the day, but Martin Brodeur, Tom Fitzgerald & our goalie coach Dave Rogalski got together with Lindy & discussed the goalies, Schmid was the one they chose for game 3 due to his calm nature, but also because he plays the puck very well & is 6'5 214 compared to a significantly smaller Vitek Vanecek who doesn't play the much much at all. Great hockey minds all throughout this organization who are all very active with the team unlike other organizations.

  25. Yeah as a devil's fan the rivalry is more with the fans…. I don't think the players on both teams really care that much like in the 90s and 2000s and they both are not really physical teams

  26. Total bi polar series. As confident as I felt after Game 2, I was prepared for this, even though I thought it was unlikely. Game 5 will expose and confirm what Gallant is made of as a coach. If Hughes winds up being the difference in this series, it will speed up the process what Drury's goal always has been. Get the dominant Centre they need that runs thru him and controls the game. The one "plus" I take out of this is the Rangers played 2 garbage games and they were in position to win both games

  27. Where exactly did the “MSG is so intimidating” narrative come from other than people just wanting to believe that’s true?

Intimidating venues are a myth, full stop. No, your cheering and yelling is not getting into the heads of professional athletes

I know sports fans desperately want to feel like they’re having a direct impact on their favorite teams, but I hate to break it to them, they don’t and never will

  28. As a flyers fan, having no horse in the race I can appreciate the skill levels from both teams. The devils rebuild is giving me hope within the next few years my flyers will be back in playoff hockey.

  29. Rangers going to the Rock where they won both game's 5 to 1.. Well, back to the Pebble..L.G.R.!!!!!*

  30. Devils just don’t have that kind of team. I mean Hischier crashed into Shesterkin and apologized to him. More fights in the stands.
