it’s always gotta be one of those love/hate type of relationships with this team. after last night, as a 20+ year Rangers fan, all I could do was call up my dad this morning and ask him how he’s done this for 50+
This team never instills long-term confidence and when it seems like they’re going to it gets shattered. that’s what it is to put yourself into this team. so while I think it’s very possible the Rangers rally in this series and eke out a win, it is just so difficult to put confidence in that.

Im all for optimism but i think were all frustrated that we seem to be doing the same thing again when things dont go our way the team looks lost and uninspired, just like those games last year and the ones after the 2-0 lead heading to tampa, except this time it followed an opportunity for us to slam the door shut and exorcise our usual demons but here we stand yet again. Its jarring.

I wanna see action, not words. The fact that Vinny said the effort was even anywhere near acceptable in postgame is baffling to me. I just want them to put in a noticeable effort so it isn’t as frustrating to watch.

I’d like to see a real adjustment made. Players need to show more effort for sure, but not once during last night’s game did I feel like Gallant had a plan to deal with the Devil’s pressure and possession game.
It’s not impossible, Lindy Ruff took the Devil’s from two 5-1 blowouts to squeaking out low scoring, well earned wins.
I know the Rangers have more to give than they gave last night, and I’m hoping that they come back with a bit more confidence for game 5.

we’ll still win the series but there are long term ramifications to not closing a series like this out early. Going into round 3 last year we were gassed because the first two series ran long.

Most of our superstar forwards aren’t playing up to their level but a lot of this is on coaching in my opinion. We basically did the exact same thing in Game 4 as we did in game 3, Mika had 20 PP goals from the left faceoff circle yet we’re still playing him at the bumper despite it not working at all last game, and Panarin missing wide open shots from there. It’s the same as the Tampa series last year, teams adjust after we beat them a couple times and our coaching staff don’t have a plan B to get ahead of it, we’re essentially just getting out coached.

A quick reminder, Crosby was out game 5 and 6 and came back at like 40% game 7. Crosby in that series and we don’t escape the 1st round.

If they showed some heart and played like they wanted to be there, I don’t think this loss would be as devastating.. but they didn’t

Yes and another quick reminder, we played exactly like this against Tampa and the season ended with a whimper. We all remember that they bounced back and got our hopes up against the Pens and Canes but what I’ll always remember is that this team is more than happy to take a night off when it matters and if they’re doing it now, they’ll do it in June.
