OK Guys, it’s time to have a look at a 2023 draft eligible prospect Will Smith. He has been on an absolute heater lately, putting up some incredible highlights for Team USA at the U18 World Championship. Including a crazy highlight reel goal yesterday against Finland. Should the Habs draft Smith at #5 if he’s available? I think he would be a great choice.

Benson is better. Smith is soft. You said it with 'space' he wont have that space in the NHL. Benson is more of a direct player.

I'd pick him
I would love Smith, i dont want Michkov, not because he isn't good enough, i dont want to have to wait until 2026-2027 season, that's a long time. That's 2 years of him playing in the KHL, a lot can happen in 2 years, could have a career ending injury, (God forbid!), then what? Then the Habs just lost their 5th overall pick that we suffered for! I want someone who can step into the line up, and start making a difference right away. In a deep draft, picking at number 5, I expect a good player that can play next year. If the Habs make a trade with someone and waste assets to get Michkov, im going to be super bummed! Ive had my eye on Smith for a while, that's who i have been thinking we are going to get, well hoping, now im nervous after seeing the vote. I can't believe so many people are willing to wait so long for Michkov, who is good, dont get me wrong, but is he THAT much better then Smith? That it's worth waiting 2 years, and risking him getting hurt in the K? Not in my opinion.
I polled in the 4% (Benson). I don't dislike Smith and these highlights were very nice.. The kid has talent. I've just heard he can get lazy. That said, maybe he can work on that. Maybe his problem isn't work ethics. Maybe he just know the second he gets a pass sitting by the blue line it gives his team the best chance to score.. I won't be disappointed if the Habs pick Smith. I will be shitting bricks if they pick Michkov because I don't know if he'll ever come over.

I wonder if any team picking in the top four would accept a trade like , Slafkovsky and floridas 1sr for like the 4th overall. Would rather have let’s say smith and fantilli over Slafkovsky? I’m pretty sure if Slafs was in the 2023 draft he wouldn’t make it in the top 10
