Why did he get fined for a crosscheck to the shoulder?
I'm more interested in Samsonov giving Jeannot a little whack in the face with his stick in the background. Maybe a little accidentally on purpose.
NHL fines are jokes. $3K is the equivalent of average people getting $10 for doing 200 h/h on the 401.
On top of that, the standard of officiating an NHL game during playoffs is a farce.

It's a penalty since he took it on the chin, I guess. But the crosscheck rolled up Colton's shoulder because of the way he was trying to sell it.

COmpared to what the bolts did to Reilly and during that scrum, this was nothing. he hit the visor after hitting his shoulder. The league just loves going after the leafs for fines and suspensions. Such a joke of a league.
Lafferty is a legend. Glad to see him finding a mean steak out there. Kid is fast, physical and has a crazy high hockey IQ. His hands haven’t really translated to the NHL yet, but I bet they will soon. Even if not, Sam is an excellent bottom 6er.

I'm still waiting for the correction call in response to when they gave Schenn 2min for pushing with 1 hand, which apparently counts as cross-checking, IN FRONT OF THE NET, where you commonly see real cross-checks in abundance without any calls. This was also immediately after O'Reilly got cross-checked to the ice in front of the net, stood up and scored without the refs raising a hand.
This series has been about as consistent as NBA refs and about as fair as the Tim Peel call that got him fired.
ya looked worthy of a penalty and the fine, but there was a HARD cross check in game 1 to the neck of a leaf player, knocking them to the ice. If this was worth a penalty and fine, that other cross check has to be worth a fine possibly a 1 game suspension.
