Thoughts boys? I love how Stammy stood up for our boy Point and fed Matthews what he had coming. Playing by the rules is overrated, we out here to win a cup

  2. bigwilly311

I don’t care what anyone says. I just want to win games. We should have won yesterday. All that sustained pressure only to let in two last-minute goals sucks. I wanted to win that one and I want to win the next one. The rest is noise.

Right call ass call why can’t leaf’s fans stay in their sub I know why cause your LOSERS. We had to beat the refs and the leafs and we almost pulled it off a lot to ask.

It seems pretty on brand for the Leafs, IMO. I made a post about this the other day, but like imagine if the situation were reversed— like if Perbix or Raddysh had hit Marner or Matthews into the board like that? Leafs fans would be calling for blood. I understand that Reilly doesn’t have a reputation (c.f. Bunting) but that was a dangerous hit, even if it was legal. But in the moment, from the ice, when you don’t have the benefit of seeing the replay over and over and over?

Stamkos, Kuch, Jeannot— those guys made a statement. If it had been Marner that had gone down like that? I can’t imagine Tavares dropping the gloves like that and pulling any one of our top guys into a fight, or Järnkrok jumping on anyone like Kuch did.

It’s these types of comments that make me feel better about our odds. You don’t see our guys leaning on the refs & making it seem like it’s the refs fault they lost the game. Like [Tavares’ quote from Tuesday night](https://twitter.com/mikeystephens81/status/1648513955588079617?s=46&t=3uuy_NcnQK-uUN3YbMNfCA)? Embarrassing.

[Hagel actually had a really good quote](https://twitter.com/chris_krenn/status/1650011159158767618?s=46&t=3uuy_NcnQK-uUN3YbMNfCA) last night, about how he thought the puck was in and that it should have been a goal, but the call on the ice was the call, and so there was no point in dwelling on it.
That’s of mentality that has taken us to three SCF. You can be upset at a call & also take accountability for playing a bad game. And actually, I thought we played great last night. If any team deserves to complain about the officiating last night, it’s us. We probably would have won the game in regulation, if the refs hadn’t called back Point’s goal. But they did & we moved on. I’m more upset that we were THIS close to shutting it down, and let them tie it up in the last minute of the 3rd. Because that’s what made the Point non-goal call so bad. (And, to add insult to injury, the whole Leafs getting a PP after Reilly’s hit on Point).

If we keep playing like we did last night, the Leafs can whine about the officiating all they want.

Edit: It was actually [Coop](https://twitter.com/chris_krenn/status/1649975136085327881?s=46&t=3uuy_NcnQK-uUN3YbMNfCA), who made that comment last night, but Hagel also made a similar comment.

Only the leafs could win, and still blame the refs.

  6. Allatura19

Imagine having this attitude on a night your team getting a playoff road W despite being outplayed, having a goal nullified by a quick whistle, got the benefit of a questionable boarding call on a 50-goal scorer, etc.

    Go Bolts.

  7. 4Ever2Thee

And this comment is an example of Keefe trying to manipulate the refs. That’s how the game’s played

  8. transam96

According to the Leafs, Point should just be allowed to be ragdolled into the boards without any repercussions. Our players should’ve just skated back to the bench like nothing happened. Newsflash: you throw what even LOOKS like a dirty hit on someone, that guys teammates are coming after you. It’s just how the game is and has been forever. But I find it hilarious that the team with the only suspension and fine in the series is calling the other the dirty team. Lol

Literally had the game saved for you by an early whistle on what should’ve been a goal and came out of that whole Point mess with a power play while our whole top line was out of the game for a solid 8 1/2 minutes, yet they’re still whining about the officiating. AND THEY WON THE GAME.

Jeez man give me a break. I’m no defender of the refs, but the incessant whining from Toronto this entire series is nauseating.

What a complete and utter moron! I can’t wait to see this 12 year old GM fired, and this coach to be moved.

  10. unclelayman

He knows the calls went against us and he’s trying to manipulate them himself. The league tends to balance the calls and games, and that’s gonna be bad for them next game

  11. Regulus0

Neutral party here. Ya boy Point got slightly ahead of Reilly in a foot race. He tried to hit the breaks and took a bump and tried stop Reilly and himself, ended up tipping over at high speed into the wall awkwardly. Shit happens. Zero malicious intent on the “hit” if you even call it that. They both shoved each other with their arms and sticks in hands and Point lost his balance and tipped going too fast. That is literally all it was. Any other team in the league (outside Boston, Tampa, and maybe Washington) would be getting a handful of instigation calls. The bias is real. To claim there is no bias is the real joke.

I’ve seen probably 30 no-calls way worse, with clear malicious intent just this season that go without penalty and without fine/suspension simply because they were on “no-name” or less popular players. Which is dumb in itself that you should get more calls simply because you scored 50 points vs someone who scores 2. A player is a player. An illegal action is an illegal action. Unfair play shouldn’t be allowed regardless of who is committing it or who it is committed on.

Whether Tampa was “manipulating the refs” consciously or whether the refs hold a bias, it was miscalled and Tampa should have taken a call there for Stamkos. The outcome is the same, it is unfair.

“Manipulating the referees? All right, I’m not sure what that means,” Cooper said. “When that hit [on Point] happened, I think everyone in the building, including us, thought we were going on the power play. Our two best power-play players [Stamkos and Kucherov], I don’t think they would ever sit there and take themselves off a power play unless they thought something happened.”

Tampa Bay deserved to win the game last night, but with that said, the leafs had the same outcome last season in game 6. The leafs outplayed Tampa and lost. The hit in question was a hockey play and unfortunately Point was injured for a few minutes. Stamkos punching Mathews in the head several times in front of the ref deserves a penalty call. We all would have started punching back after the 4th punch. Keefe is right about the situation, stamkos took advantage of the situation.

  14. Soup_Sensitive

There’s a reason he hasn’t won a cup and keeps losing in the first round

  15. RoRtornado

Lightning never chooses the easiest path. What hurts the most is that we can nullify any team when we just play our game

  16. ApatheticJellyfish

Leafs are sore losers even when they get handed a win.
