3 key takeaways from this game:
1 the leafs forecheck needs to be more in sync. If your going one one three, you need that second forward to read where the puck is going we and tampa just played it back and around and found a different angle. Maybe a 2 1 2 forecheck might be better, punish them for their short passes, or maybe 1,2,2. Let them make thebfirst pass and pounce on the forward pass and stop the stretch.
2. O'Reilly has been so clutch for a pickup, and I called Reilly staying in the lineup for playoffs he always ramps up his game and plays well in the playoffs. If the two top lines are going to be shutdown the third line will need to outplay their third line, and it will help if Reilly can be on that blueline when the third line is on the ice.
3. Matthews had a MASSIVE hit in the first minute of the first period on point or Hagel. He will needs to create space for himself and the stars will need to step up big in the next game to bring it to 3-1.
Everything knies is doing for the leafs is crazy good. That play you guys are saying he tried to dipsie doodle I didn't see that I saw him grab the puck and immediately get shoved off balance, as knies was getting shoved he pulled the puck away from the stick of a tampa player. If knies hadn't pulled that puck thebforward would have been clear on the net and it would have been a scramble but it gave the defense time to react to where the puck was going and cut it off once it was stripped. Knies is so strong on the puck that play he made going in the middle was crazy and the fact he could dangle his way through and keep the puck was crazy, most players would just get shoved off the puck in those cases. He is so strong on his edges, and his cutbacks rival marner. I honestly don't think there's a player out there that could take him on along the boards one on one he is so shifty
So when Tampa Snap head back and sells call it’s great hockey sense but when bunting did it it’s embellishment. Everyone loves hating on the leafs.
Zach Aston-Reese is playing amazing hockey. They need to keep him in the lineup and consider keeping Bunting out of the lineup when his suspension is finished.
Bolts got robbed on that 4th goal. NO REASON the ref should have blown the whistle when the puck was still bouncing around. In fact, the watching the play in real time, the goal happened so fast it begs the question how the ref even had the whistle to his mouth. It was a legit goal, Bolts got robbed, Toronto knows its….but all of Toronto is looking the other way saying "…nothing to see here, move along now.". BS!

I said in January that Vas.. will be fatigued because of the amount of hockey he's played over the past 3-4 yrs. Leafs can win if Vas is indeed worn out. Good on Sid for focussing on Vas.
Sid is also right about Tavares. Tavares is poor defensively and has been for 2 yrs. Questionable in numerous passes he makes every game.
