Anybody know Matheson’s nickname? I’m guessing Matty cuz it’s the NHL and everybody knows it’s the suckiest league in the world when it comes to nicknames. Anyway, I wanted MTL to get him when he was in Florida just for his skating ability alone. The guy can wheel! And d-men who can skate the puck out of their own end are worth their weight in gold. I live in Ottawa so got to see Karlsson a lot. Nobody excelled at carrying the puck out of the zone like he did during his time with the Sens. Matty reminds me a lot of him. Definitely one of Hughes’ best trades to date. (P.S. Glad the eye is healing so well. You’re giving Marinaro a run for best looking hockey talker on the YouTubes.)
