Just got home from the game. Boy am i upset family but if we can get the next one in the garden a 2-1 series is a whole new ball game..

  2. jvalente80

Vitek got the yips and it started in game 1 on the 3rd Rags goal when he was up against the post and instead of staying pinned against it he saw the puck coming towards his face and ducked out of the way. Every time the Rags shoot at him he ducks. Schmid or Blackwood should have started game 2.

  3. McLovin81111

If you were the guys in section 107, row 4, you guys were absolute morons. Probably the dumbest and most obnoxious Devil fans I have encountered.

  4. ilovehenrique14

Telling myself this is just like how we started the regular season and we’re gonna get going here (I am only partly delusional)

  5. Welp, some of yall wanted this matchup, you got it. No excuse to be clowned around at home for 2 straight. None. Then again if the Panthers were the opponent they’d probably get bitched out these 1st 2 games too.

Bench Vitek(and others) for the rest of the series. Since you can’t fire a coach in a series I want Ruff out this offseason. Gone.

  6. MeterWatcher

I would have rather missed the playoffs than go through the past three days.

  7. DevilJacket2000

We are launching our massive rocket into space, watching it blow up into a million pieces and saying, “well, we’re learning a lot”.

    I know I am.

  8. theketchupthief

We suffered through a 10 year long rebuild for this. I hate this team so fucking much.

  9. nostradamefrus

Catching a Rags fan call into WFAN on my drive home gloating about us losing after “running our mouth all season” feels bad man. He ain’t wrong but it still feels bad

  10. nuremberp

The rangers still suck. Somehow, the devils managed to suck 5 times worse two games in a row. Need to turn this shit around. I say run Schmid the Kid on saturday, i know its not on vitek but it would change the game a lil

  11. iamtheprodigy

Just got home from the game. That ranks among the most disappointing live games I’ve ever been to. The first period was okay, but the rest of the game was the most invisible I’ve seen our team look all season. I couldn’t tell you one player that stood out in a positive way. Beat to every puck. Getting outmanned on the boards every time. Sloppy passes. Falling down for no reason. Getting shots blocked. No creativity, not flash, no skill. Fucking nothing.

It’d be one thing if we were playing the way we did all season and the Rangers were just beating us at our game. It would be disappointing, but I could accept that they were just better. But they aren’t fucking better. We are a better team, we just are skating around like soulless husks and letting them do whatever they want out there. The team I watched in the 2nd and 3rd period tonight bore no resemblance to the team that finished 3rd in the league in the regular season. Mind boggling the way everyone was just going through the motions and showing no passion or will to win.

It’s a best of 7, as I reminded many asshole Ranger fans on the way out, and I’m not a fucking doomer. I will be watching the next 2 games and fully believe we can come back. But we have to show up to MSG as a different team if we are going to do that. The way we have played games 1 and 2 does not cut it. Lindy, Brunette, and the rest need to step up with a better fucking game plan, a better line-up, and the vets need to hold people accountable here.

  12. itsthelew

This douchebag ranger fan in my section got kicked out and it was fucking glorious fuck the rangers see you on saturday we just need 1

  13. rabid_android

Listen… its been a long time since we have been to the playoffs but I have seen plenty of series that can change. Devils need to go into the Garden and take 2 games. The Devils can do this. We have seen them do this all year. Time to put up or shut up. And send Miles Wood to the moon!

  14. DevilJacket2000

Not at all worried about going into the league’s worst arena and playing our best game of the season.

I am worried about Lindy Ruff doing something incredibly stupid with the lineup.

  15. youres0lastsummer

I love our team so much I hope next game we bounce back. They are so young and are going to learn from this–if not this year then soon. They feel bad enough, I hate seeing the pile on ):

  16. gwords16

I think Lindy is getting exposed here. A team doesn’t just shut down like this. Not absolving the players at all but this is definitely on coaching. The players look lost and it doesn’t seem like they’re getting any guidance as to how to combat what their opponent is throwing at them.

The lineup choices were also suspect. First, I don’t ever want Wood or Smith to see the ice for this team again. Someone else said it but Vitek has the yips. He seems so lost out there. Throw Luke and Schmid out there for game 3. Get these guys the experience and maybe it could even spark something.

Also, a special thank you to the drunk Devils fans in my section who did nothing but make us all look like drunk, sore losers. I hate their team but don’t take personal shots at opposing fans. I actually felt a little bad for the Rags fan who was pretty much arguing with a couple of drunken idiots who wouldn’t stop harassing the guy.

  17. branchoflight

I haven’t been able to watch the games: are the Devils really getting outplayed that bad? I really want them to beat the Rags.

  18. gleeson630

Do ppl still think Andrew “you know I coached for the panthers right. You don’t care do you?” Brunette is a good assistant coach/potential head coach. Everyone was assigning him the credit for this year and I think it was overly simple logic. Lindy isn’t the only coach and none of the other coaches seem to do anything either. It’s one of the few times where a fan can be a know it all and actually be right. There’s no adjustment at all even throughout the regular season.

  19. NJDevs30

Never thought I’d say this, but Lindy is really making Hynes look like a good coach. How do you healthy scratch Siegs with Smith and not even give Luke a chance. That among many other things that have gone wrong. Oh and I’d make sure Wood never sees the ice again this series after 2 offensive zone penalties the Rags capitalized on so far. Maybe try going 11F/7D next game. Luke can at least slot in at forward if we desperately need it, no?

  20. gibsonblood

I wanted either the devils or the rangers to win the division only so we didn’t have to go through exactly this.

  21. I’ve been stress eating, stress drinking, and stress shit posting the entire night, but I just watched Lindy’s post game media and now I’m actually sad.

Dude has no anger, no passion, looks like he’s about to fall asleep on the mic. I’m about to yeet my fuckin TV through the back door and this asshole is goin “oh, y’know, I thought that call on Miles was a toughie. O well, we talked about it y’know.” like fuck you Lindy you’re the reason this team has no fuckin backbone.

  22. chickenKsadilla

Lost my cool at a bunch of Rags fans behind me in the last minute. First time that’s ever happened to me in my life, just couldn’t take it anymore. Cannot fathom acting that way in another team’s building. Their fans give us the most unearned condescension I’ve ever witnessed, they think they have the Yankees history when they’re really the Knicks.

  23. theketchupthief

I look forward to us somehow stealing a game at MSG so we can get eliminated in front of 13000 rangers fans on home ice

  24. Audi_R8_

I remember rebuilding and thinking “man I can’t wait to make the playoffs”. Turns out, the playoffs are not very much fun

  25. THISisFreeIRONY

If I ever see Miles Woof on the ice again it better be in different jersey.

  26. Just a reminder the the fucking New Jersey Devils finished the season as the 3rd best team in the NHL, and that was coming out of the toughest division in the league. This team is the real fucking deal, but has played like liquefied shit the last two games. They absolutely have it in them to beat the odds and make a comeback. They have to win 4 out of 5 games against a seasoned playoff opponent. It will be a monumental comeback and I’ll admit is not likely, but it can be done

  27. sapphires_and_snark

Between icing Wood (on the third line, no less) and Smith, and the complete lack of PK adjustments, I can’t with Ruff. I can’t wait until he’s kicked upstairs or gone altogether.

Our top 6 showing up also would be tits but I’m not optimistic. This group just doesn’t get it yet.

  28. NotoriousFantasy

I love how the Devils social media says that we started the season 0-2 so we need to remain positive. Nothing about those games makes me feel positive. I hope we win at least one but that feels impossible.

  29. riccarjo

Can’t wait to tell my therapist about this.

  30. DevilJacket2000

    Going into the series:

“The powerplay needs to be better”

    Nope, it’s actually fucking worse.

“Can’t take stupid penalties against a team that lives off their powerplay.”

Holy fucking shit, you can’t get even more opposite than that. Taking some of the dumbest penalties I’ve ever seen.

    “Goaltending needs to hold.”

Vitek hasn’t been great, but he’s down the list of problems at the moment.

  31. weaver787

Looks like someone zapped a fucking Men In Black neuralyzer on the boys and they completely forgot how to play hockey. I don’t think I’ve seen us ice the puck that much in a single game. BOTH the PK and PP are embarrassing. We turtle up while they feed their points nonstop with non-existent pressure and when we’re on the advantage we can barely get it passed the fucking red line.

  32. MC_Fap_Commander

I want to take something beautiful and destroy it.

  33. I thought getting blown out in the Stadium Series game back in 2014 was embarassing, but damn…

  34. DaMonstaburg

I don’t know what happens when we visit MSG anymore. I thought we’d be able to find a pulse and put life into this squad and avoid 0-2 and carry that into the away team’s arena but no. Maybe we’re not gritty enough? Not challenging enough? Not enough playoff experience? I really don’t know

  35. Hotpocketlove

Holy shit somebody pointed this out and I dont know how I missed it. Ruff swapped out SIEGENTHALER?? Our must shut down defenseman (aside from Marino). Yet we have Smith and Bahl out there being complete liabilities. As a defenseman who’s played my whole life, Siegenthaler is the most undervalued player in the devils organization and Smith is D- replacement. Inexcusable and frankly disrespectful

  36. landofvanill

Through two games, every other series has had either been close between teams or had blowouts evened out by another blowout. But basically teams demonstrating that they can hang with the other, even if they are underdogs… Except us.. we got blown up twice with no answers

  37. aww_hell_i_give_up

When this series finally sorted itself out at the end of the regular season, I said to myself the Devils need to establish their transitional game and make the most of their opportunities on their scoring chances. They also need to stay disciplined and not give them any chances, because it will be the death of us.

Well in our two playoff games, the Tuesday night starting at 7:00 and tonight at 7:30, the Devils have started both games at 7:30. This is not a team we can be playing from behind, check the season stats for the Rangers when they score first compared to trailing.

The first game behind us, I liked our start tonight, but that lack of discipline took us completely off the rails. We can’t be spending so much time short handed. It’s not going to generate offense, or at the very least, keep play even. But then it started to fall apart.

I can’t even blame VV this game. First goal through traffic, no chance. Kreider, on both goals, could grab himself a chair, a book, a cup of coffee and tip pucks in with our PK. As much as we need to stay out of the box, we need coaching to get this sharpened up. The other goals, Kane and Kakko, we left him out to dry. As much as you would like him to steal some of these, when your feet from the net with no one on you and up on the scoreboard, that net for the shooter looks humongous.

PP1 has looked disastrous and completely lost confidence.

While the Rangers game plan of clogging up the neutral zone and collapsing in front of their net is working, but it’s not the reason they’re up 2-0. The Devils, coaching and team alike, are not adjusting to the game and their actions or inaction have them down 0-2.

While it does not seem promising, it can be turned around, but they’ve gotta look deep down for this to have a chance.

  38. theketchupthief

There’s a part of me that really is trying to look for a positive in this. So many young talented teams get their shit kicked in before they take that next step. But then I remember that it’s the Rangers doing the shit kicking and I get sad again.

  39. Franzblau

With Vegas about to win, the Devils are officially the only one of the 8 teams in this year’s playoffs with home ice advantage to lose both of games 1 & 2 at home.

  40. Technical-Search-359

Not good. Not good. I think this may be their first sweep in NJD history.
