Would be great if Gio can play in the Leaf Top 4 D – man role. That is likely where he belongs. Who else can do it? The Leafs really didn’t upgrade D-men quality at the Trade Deadline. They just got more.

Gio/Schenn sheltered but very solid minutes.
I think the Leafs should go with Riley and Liljegren, McCabe and Brodie, Gustavsson and Timmins. Even these pairings can be moved around to suit the game. I would put Giordano as the 7th defenceman
he 1000% can, Sitting him won’t do anything but make him worse. Guys his age need to keep playing bc the break can destroy them. Look at him when he was playing major mins with leafs he was doing great the game they started to cut down his mins he did worse and worse the more it got cut down. Gio is better defensively than almost everyone on the leafs D and he shows it every night.

He only has to do it for 7 games max, so sure why not?
He could play top 4 minutes, but he doesn't need to. The Leafs have enough dmen to spread it out.
