On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, we gear up for Game 2 by looking at a few of the areas the Wild will need to be on their guard against the Stars. We start in the faceoff circle, and discuss now the Stars can hurt the Wild in particular from the faceoff circle on Special teams. We discuss all four road teams picking up wins in the Western Conference in the first game of their series, and how they were able to dictate the pace of play form the beginning. We finish by discussing the Wild offense, and why they need to keep attacking, even though Jake Oettinger played outstanding enough to stymie several Grade A offensive chances.

I can’t imagine Pavelski coming back at all this series. He looked awful after that hit.
Pavelski should require a minimum 48 hours before testing by a neurologist. His time out of play will be 100% determined by doctors and not coaches or himself. He could potentially come back for the first Minnesota home game and is listed as day to day.
Another 1 goal win coming. In regulation this time.
Dallas recalled an AHL player today meaning no Joe Pa 2nite.
The Wild recalled Sammy Walker which means somebody is out or a game time decision. My guess is Kirill or Hartman………..
You could tell something wasn't right with Kirill in the 3rd and both OTs. Hopefully it wasn't a re-aggravation of the LB injury. I think it was)

Losing draws on odd man situations is a crazy disadvantage. Starting the PP behind your own net with .15- to .20 seconds off the clock is huge. This doesn’t even consider getting set up in the O zone. On the PK, Freddy lost both of those draws immediately, he needs to tie up the stick and get some help from his teammates. Benn and Pavelski know they have the advantage. Hoping EK can help once he’s plopped back into the lineup. Dallas had 4 straight PP’s late in the game, that was where the momentum flipped. The crowd in Dallas seems to expect penalties being called against the foe as the PP is a big reason they are so formidable. I have been watching ALL the other series. It’s weird the lack of physicality in the colorado / Seattle series compared to Dallas / MN. I think the Ave’s thought they had another first round sweep, just needed to show up. I would love if they had to put some tread on the tires and go 6-7 games, even if they end up winning…
This series means a lot to me. I'm now 45 years old and grew up a North Stars fan. The team left, and I swore I'd never watch hockey again and didn't until the Wild arrived. I'm so thankful watching this team this year it has been amazing because it feels different. This wild team isn't the most skilled, but they play as a team and make me proud as a fan. Win or lose, I love this team

Pavelski will be out this series, being he has previous concussion OPS will have him under protocol. Duhaime looked much better off on his concussion than Pavelski and he was out at least 5 games.
This will need to be another team defense win. It's ok to let them work perimiter. It lulls them into believing they are in control. Stay gritty!
As far as penalties, send Spurgeon over to refs and point out Robertson's embellishment dive and tell refs they are taking dives to try and draw PP's. Just plant the seed.
