I swear to god he’s my favourite senator if he gets traded I’m fuckin done with ottawa
Bring him on over!
Detroit should absolutely trade for him if he doesn't want to sign with the Sens. Islanders 1st and a second and a 5th would be cool with me depending on who is available to draft at where the Islanders pick ends up.
So Yzerman needs to ask himself this first: Is the team in a "Win now" situation? 7 years of rebuilding, we'll have a lottery/top 16 draft pick this upcoming draft, is now the time to consider trading away assets to become more readily competitive? II think so. I think the Wings have set themselves up for success with the last few years of draft picks and now it's time to supplement those guys with proven players like DeBrincat. We lost Vrana (a proven goal scorer) because it wasn't working out. Someone's gotta be brought in to step into that role, whether it's 20, 30, 40 goals. The only guys scoring right now are Larkin who we have locked up, Kubalik who is doing great and can be part of this young competitive core, Perron who was a great signing but is a "win now" player because of his age. Raymond is coming along nicely, so are Suter and Berggren. I think it would be a good move, especially if they pay less than Ottawa did and then get him signed.
Ottawa needs a first back also
If Detroit trades a 1st and 3rd round picks for DeBrincat I would be ok with it. We will see what Yzerman does.
Jesus died for us amen
Plz
Flip zadina and joe veleno?
How about Edmonton or Washington ? Played junior with mcdavid and strome
id give up the islanders 1st round pick and a second and 3 round pick for him. would not give them our 1st round pick tho
Nah. I'm not interested in forking out 1st round picks right now. We still need as many kicks at the can as possible for quality talent for the next year or two.
If we were in contention for the playoffs up to the final week, then maybe I'd consider it. That said, We've been out of contention for several weeks. So in my mind, trading away high draft picks doesn't make sense at this juncture.
That being said, If Yzerman pulled the trigger, I wouldn't question it. I've seen progress with this team over the last few year, and given his work with the Bolts, and his recent Red Wings picks… I am still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
If he's willing to sign then the Wings get a 30+ (maybe 40+) goal scorer now for the Islander's 1st and give them a 2nd and a 5th in this draft, this should be a no brainer. Question is, is would OTT accept it.
If the Red Wings are drafting big players it shouldn't matter that debrincat is smaller.
Wings have some former high picks that could be traded to make room for some of their younger talent. Wings biggest weak spot is guys that get chances and can't finish.
He is a native of Farmington Hills, a good fit. Get used to this, if you are a foreign player, would you sign in Canada?. You no longer can buy a home…and for players with a family, this is a big deal.
Given that the draft is supposedly "stacked" this year, I wouldnt give up a 1st. Instead I would give a 2nd (41st overall), a 3rd and a prospect (or another 2nd rounder).
DeBrincats values should be lower than what Ottawa paid.
I love Stevie. And he’s proven time and time again to make great moves as a GM. However, we had a really tough to play against 30 goal scorer in Tyler Bertuzzi, and a potential 40 goals scorer in Jacob Verana that we traded away. He should have got a deal done with Tyler, and not traded away Jacob for nothing.
Hey the Cat is from Michigan and Stevie likes signing home-grown boys. 🤷🏻♂️
That’s gotta hurt for Sen players and fans, they’re moving along nicely on the rebuild.
