  1. The all star draft used to be a thing- they went back to the divisional teams instead of having the two captains pick.

  2. The NHL has an All-Star weekend every year where the best players during the season are selected and then compete in competitions like the fastest skater or hardest shot (you should react to those), and then they have a mini 3 on 3 tournament (although the all-star weekend has kinda fallen off the past few years it is still really good for giving back to fans and raising money for charity, which is awesome). Back in the day, they used to have an all-star draft. So, one of the clips is Kessel being picked last, and the other clip is him being traded for Tyler Seguin, which is pretty funny if you know the backstory and kinda sad as a Leaf fan. There is a really awesome video for the backstory of that trade on the Sportsnet YouTube channel if you type in the Phil Kessel trade tree. The video is really interesting and informative, but it probably won't make much sense and might be tough to react to if you aren't familiar with players, how the NHL draft works, how trades in the NHL work, hockey history, etc.

  3. They had to stop the all star draft because players were getting too hammered and under the bargaining agreement of the rules, it's a voluntary workday, so booze free was out. Was glorious while it lasted.

  4. Suggestion: 7:5019:28 of Dorktown's "The Age of Ichiro" to learn about one of I'd say the four most unique ballplayers of the past 30 years, and for my money, the greatest ever. And if you ever want to understand why Americans feel baseball in their bones the way die hard fanatics of other sports feel theirs, the whole thing is very long but I can think of no better guide than going through the insane yet mundane story of the Seattle Mariners.
