The Flames were supposed to be one of the best in the West, but it just never clicked after a solid start to the season.

  1. There still is the most handsome nose of the NHL in Flames`roster, the nose of Milan Lucic.

  2. My thoughts: fire Sutter (I loved Him but I think it's best for the players). Resign toffoli, hanifin and zadorov and hopefully some of the others, but if doesn't seem likely trade at least lindholm already, trade a goalie to let wolf come up. And get another true goal scorer. We have a bunch of assets in prospects

  3. A lot of the Flames struggles this year can honestly be chalked up to bad luck, as well. Granted, some of that was bad luck they made themselves, but some of it was also out of their control.

A lot of statistics say Calgary should have been comfortably in the playoffs. If they had won even half of those overtime losses they would have been in the mix for the division.

It'll be interesting to see what happens this off-season. I think it is easy for the Flames to over-correct and make things worse, bit they definitely have to do something.

  4. There are always a lot of factors in a good or not so good season.
To me the main factor was Coach Sutter.
I totally agree THG, it just felt so disjointed.
I don't know if I'd say they stopped playing for him but…

  5. Literally as I was watching you talk about the Calgary GM the notice comes across that he is leaving. Lol

  6. It was a weird season. I think they can bounce back. Always appreciate your thorough, unbiased and educational commentary!

  7. Even without making any major changes, I would expect the Flames to make the playoffs next season. While they still would have been underperforming, the entire season was full of statistical anomalies, there will likely be a regression to the mean, and this should push them over the playoff line.

  8. Most mystifying decision with the Flames was having Huberdeau play RW during parts of the year, like why was he playing there?

  9. Went from scoring 3.5 GPG to 3.0 GPG. Other than Toffoli and Zadorov who stepped up for goals everyone else took a step back.

  10. Treiliving has been let go as I’m watching this – they are mega-screwed with the Huberdeau, Kadri, and Weegar contracts

  11. Shannon has magical powers. Whenever he makes a recap video of a team, that team then fires someone major.

  12. I just started watching this video and then I got the notification that Treleving got let go
