Late last year, another player joined the list of NHLers to file for bankruptcy, as Vegas Golden Knights’ goaltender Robin Lehner filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in December of 2022.

You know, it's crazy how we've seen this happen three times in such a short time frame. And for 3 different reasons.
I just listened to a truecrime podcast the other day about that murder. They mentioned in it that one of his customers was an NHL player who spent millions on snakes. I didn't realize it was him.
Easy to say he made 33 million, but taxes take half. Agent makes 5%, and various other costs of living the life of a pro athlete- These numbers aren't as big as you might think.

Some parts of these videos are very informative and great, and some parts are a tough watch. The narrator emphasizes weird things, like the guy who was murdered by his wife, as if Lehner was in the wrong for doing business with someone who later was murdered as if there was any way he could have known. Almost sounds like the narrator is ridiculing at times, which is not really his place.
Anyway, otherwise an informative video. As a high tier goalie, Lehner will probably end up just fine, and be better off than any of us regular people.
In spite of alcoholism and depression, I still have difficulty understanding how someone must file for bankruptcy after having earned 40$ million. I wonder what Lehner's IQ is…business dealings are very odd…
Florida man should have never signed in Vegas. Probably the worst place he could have gone after his recovery and career revival in NY.
Lets be honest about his "earnings"…At this pay level, his taxes would be huge, especially in Ottawa and Chicago/New York/Vegas. He would also have a chunk to his management..you could almost cut that "total career earnings " in half. Then when you throw Garbage investments like Lizards and crypto, it is a quick trip to insolvency. Too bad he did not spend a few thousand on a financial advisor.
I really hope he gets the help he needs again, he has a very special place in the heart of hockey fans especially me as an islanders fan and I really hope he can get better and get himself back on his feet again
