  1. He told clutter whatever not to hit his player. He did. Dont blame him for protecting his teammate. Goodon ya man

  2. This is bullshit. Why was he charging Wisniewski after the horn? 8 games is way too much.

  3. Classless hit. Totally deserves every game he's getting. Unacceptable to hit a defenseless opponent in the head after the period expires. Clutterbuck was nowhere near the puck. Even if you subscribe to Wisniewski defending a teammate, he can't do it this way.

  4. I like this. A lot. The dirty hits in hockey have spiralled out of control and now the league is taking a very active role in protecting it's players. I especially like Shanahan issuing these statements in this manner.

    Good for the NHL.

  5. This is another great call, I love the way that Shanahan is handling what's happening in the preseason. Clutterbuck was in no way " charging" Wisniewski. He was coming in on a rush just as he would on any other play and actually slowed up when the horn blew. There's a difference between playing to the whistle and hitting a guy after the horn who's in a defenseless position who never had the puck in the first place. Horn or no horn, this still warrants a suspension for the headshot/interference.

  6. @TheFallenEight Fair enough that you think it was too long, but Wizniewski has already suspended numerous times and is a chronic offender.

  8. This the right thing to do, we have to elminate the shitty plays from hockey to make it more safe for the players. Good call.

  9. The argument given by Wisnieski, defending himself, is pretty pathetic. I mean… really? Defending himself when the period is over and you jump to hit the head, lmao! He is lucky that Shanahan didn't say 20 games!

  10. Way to go , Shanny , it's about time this horse manure is dealt with effectively ; now make the discipline retroactive and go after the guys who nailed Crosby .
    What crap that was! )-:

  11. I think i looks like Cal is going to do something nasty. But maybe James could have tried to push him instead. I guess it was a lot of emotion involved prior to Cal's check earlier.

  12. James Wisniewski is a dirty player hes been suspended multiple times on different teams for illegal hits. He makes these weak ass excuses to try and defend himself when he clearly is trying to hurt the other players. Im all for hitting in Hockey one of the reasons i love this game but this type of playing needs to be stopped so good job Shanny

  13. regardless of other things i could argue, im fairly certain everyone can agree clutterbuck wasnt defenseless at all….and the clock had barely run out

  14. 8 games is way to harsh! I realize it was a dirty hit, but it in no warranted an 8 game suspension. Clutterbuck embelleshed it quite a bit. I don't care what anyone says, the NHL has it in for the Jackets.

  15. @mlf06 Have you ever been in the Xcel? That horn is loud as hell. He knew the game was over, and I'm sure he knows that he can't hit anyone after the game ends. And I don't know if you've ever played hockey, but normally when you're going in for a hit you raise your shoulders when you make contact. This shows that he was going after Clutterbuck. As for being excessive, I beg to differ as well after seeing his past suspensions (similar hit on Seabrook, elbow to Doan, not sure if suspended).

  16. Clutterbuck was hit by Wisniewski and Wisniewski got suspended. Clutterbuck was hit by Gillies and Gillies got suspended. I think if Clutterbuck gets hit again and the hitting player gets suspended, its safe to say that Clutterbuck is putting HIMSELF in reckless positions.

  17. @MajorLiteral That's absurd, you're the same person who was saying Gillies hit Clutterbuck's "shoulder". He's freaking skating free, with no puck possession and standing fully upright. Wisniewski had to jump upwards and elbow upwards to hit clutterbuck's face. You're a fucking biased dipshit.

  18. way to harsh. look at all the other dirtier hits in the nhl that get a less harsh suspention. this is bullshit

  19. Spiralled out of control…LOL

New to hockey huh? Check out the cheap shots from the 90s…This is child's play.
