It’s Time for the Calgary Flames to Make a CHANGE…

After getting knocked out of playoff contention last night the Calgary Flames are in a much different spot compared to last season. Losing Johnny Gaudreau to free agency and trading Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers in the offseason this Flames team is much different than last years and the results have proven that to be true. I believe moving on from head coach Darryl Sutter could be a good idea because his coaching tactics and strategy seem to be a bit outdated at this point.

  1. Calgary fans act like it's just Sutter
You have a core similar to wpg our pasts behind us time for rebuilds or re tools.
Alot of Calgary players are 30+yrs old.
Draft players like zary, keep young guys dube ruzicka wolf and retool.

  2. Flames been looking from outside since November fast start first 10 games then mediocre ever since. Just too much to overcome, take two top stars from top teams from last year? Panthers are down to their last game to get in playoffs and they won the most games last year.

  3. The Flames should just not resign Luc and Lewis. Force Sutter to give younger players a chance. Out side of the that most of this season wasn't his fault its not his fault that the team hit damn near 100 posts this season. Also the Flames have missed every other playoff since 2015, with the exception of making the playoffs in 2019 and 2020. The team was shaken up last post season when Gaudreau left, and that showed a lot this season. As much hate as Sutter has gotten this year he got in praise 12 months ago. There was more going on under the hood than just issues with Sutter this year.

  4. Don't assume Sutters coaching style. Hard work and accountability aren't "outdated" making young guys earn it and not praising them like media pundits handing them veterans spots in the line up isn't old fashioned. Darryl Sutter sets up his team in training camp and stays faithful to his veteran guys. He also tries to keep young guys humble in the social media world where everyone heaps praise on them before they have earned anything at the nhl level. You want to fire the guy before next years training camp? That foolishness.

  5. If Huberdeau, Kadri, and Markstrom can't get their acts together… we're in for a long rebuild. They've got lengthy contracts that will end up being an albatross on Calgary's neck if they don't produce. No amount of firing the coach or the general manager will fix that, though that needs to happen as well.
