  1. barzal is a superstar in this league even if the stats dont show it. glad to have him back for this playoff push

  2. It happened quick but I won't give the Caps credit for that just yet. Boudreau should only come to town when they want him to appear on the game broadcasts. Not a slight against him. Better to go someplace where there's no history.
Keeping Laviolette didn't bode well for next year. Letting him go doesn't guarantee anything either. Pretty sure he wouldn't sign a one year contract and I can't see them giving him a multiyear deal.
During the last game the Caps broadcaster Al Koken was talking with the assistant coaches during the game like normal, one per period. There was some emotion with them all but with one coach especially it seemed like he thought it might be the last. I wish them well whatever happens.
Already looking forward to the draft, roster moves, and a training camp that has as close to a full complement of players as possible. Can you say, 'Bounce Back'? I knew that you could.

  3. Players don't want to live in frigid places like Edmonton, Calgary, or Winnipeg.

Move them to Milwaukee, Kansas City, and Houston.

  4. Buffalo 1 point out of a playoff spot…not a time to make any drastic changes

  5. While they have had their greatest success with a retread coach (he who must not be named), the Hawks rarely pick a coach off the carousel.
    This guy Richardson seems promising.
I don't get it this coach swapping, the guy just got canned, maybe for the third or fourth time.

  6. Guess Caps won if Shannon was wearing the jersey. Lavi wasn't the best fit for DC.

He wouldn't play the young guys and got players like Vrana and Seganthaler traded for magic beans and a player who doesn't know how to protect the puck on rushes.

  7. How many coaches is this now for GMBM? This will be at least his 4th. How many chances does he get? It's his fault the team is so old Laviolette couldn't do anything with it.

  8. Lavy’s a great coach, just not what the team needs right now- no ill will at all, hope he finds a good job somewhere else(as long as it doesnt hurt washington of course😉)

  9. Thank God that dude is our in Washington. What kind I'd professional coach says "yeahhh we ain't making the playoffs" with plenty of games left aland you were like 1 point from a wildcard then proceeds to tank tf outa the rest of the season like they were paid to do it. What a joke if a coach I'm tire of the caps going with the cheap option at coach.

  10. I could see Boudreau getting some calls this off season with him having one of the best regular season records in nhl history. Plus who doesn't love the guy. Went out like a warrior with his chin up from here

  11. I knew the assistants in St Louis were done, they were abysmal. When Montgomery left for Boston I knew our PK and team defensive cohesion would slide back, but it cratered.

  12. Calgary fans: Oh no! We’re worried players aren’t going to want to play here.

Columbus fans: Yeah, that must be terrible for you. 🙄

  13. There is a fatal flaw with the GM position that owners have to start understanding: GMs essentially aren't allowed to take a step back to take a step further, it would cost them their jobs. So their reaction is the opposite, to go all in to save their jobs, thus potentially ruining the team for the next 4-5 years. The flames should have gone all in last season. I was called an idiot by Flames fans convinced they had a 5+ year window, that Ktachuk and Johnny hockey would be there long term. Not winning the cup, knowing you were gonna lose Gaudreau and internally knowing Katchuk was leaving soon as well…… You take a step back, trade Katchuk for futures and you don't sign Kadri. You especially don't give 10 million to a player who didn't ask to join your team and you have no idea how he'll gel or not with this team. Brad Traveling needed to rebuild/reset last year… or get fired. And I know he'll probably get extended. That won't save Calgary from being a mediocre maybe playoff team for the next few years until they finally decide to tear it down.
If owners are too stupid to see the writing on the wall, we are gonna keep seeing GMs do ridiculous, expensive last minute moves to try and save their jobs that will end up hurting a team for YEARS while they probably go get a new job elsewhere. Bergevin did the same stupid thing before losing his job: yeah, the Habs went to the finals… and then proceeded to lose their concession goalie, their #1 center AND #1 D. How THE FUCK are you even gonna try and remain competitive? Why sign long term contracts? WHY TRADE A FIRST FOR DVORAK!?
Anyways yeah, I feel for Flames fans. I think it's all downhill from here even if Markstrom gives you better numbers. I was not impressed with this lineup even when people were proclaiming Brad Traveling early GM of the year. I kept looking at that team and thinking… who's gonna put it in? Toffoli? That's it?

  14. Backland gone he did not handle the reporter question very well. He said he is 34 years old and wants to be on a contender?Lindholm was non-committal then Kenzie said the Saddle Dome arena kind of a downer. I am from LA and have to ask is Calgary the Clevland of Canada?

  15. The Isles making the postseason after missing six weeks of Adam Pelech, Whalstrom for the year, Palmari for a couple of months and Barzal for the last two months.

Carolina now has injury issues, Isles have the clear goalie advantage and with Barzy back can roll out four strong lines!

Payback for 2019 would be lovely indeed!

  16. Sucks that Landeskog cannot play. I hope he can comeback next season and be the player he was last season. He is so important for the Avalanche considering what he brings. Net front presence, scoring, fighting, leadership…

  17. Weird they kept berube and fire assistant coaches. Isn’t the head coaches job to make sure everyone is in line doing what they’re supposed to. Seems like not enough blame is being put on berube.

  18. hard being a flames fan sometimes. I dont blame the players wanting to leave they want to win and they wont do it here.

  19. as a Caps fan I think it was time for Lavi and the Caps to part ways. I'm sure not making the playoffs this season has a large part of having to do with that. I would love to seem them bring back Trotz, although i seriously doubt that happens considering how he was let go. should have paid the man after winning the cup. I just hope they make the playoffs for the 2023-2024 season

  20. I'll be rooting for the Islanders as a Capitals fan i can't bring myself to root for the Canes.

  21. Just curious…Was there ever another NHL team who won the Stanlely Cup and then the next year got rid of their coach? Like the Caps did with Trots. I'm glad to see Lavi go…although I don't think he had a lot to work with first co-vid and then numerous injuries…but someone needs to motivate the veterans like Kuzi and Mantha…if that's possible.

  22. Stamkos was heavily injured, not expected to play and he came back for 1 game, scored 1 goal, and then exited like a boss. Are they sure Landeskog can't do the same?

  23. The situation with St. Louis. This could mirror what the Devils did last year in keeping the head coach and bringing in new assistants to provide a different perspective and new ways of doing things. This looked like it really helped the Devils get over the hump this year.

  24. What do these teams have in common? Teams the Red Wings like to make trades with. 😀
