They’re really great guys, but in the top hockey league in the world it just doesn’t cut it.

I’m worried that they’re gonna hire internally for Brads replacement

  2. FC_Cincy

Well this makes me go into offseason with more of spring in my step maybe we will find someone who can couch a team.

  3. tristanje

This makes me so happy, just please please no old man recycling club.

It’s like Christmas morning, but better!

This is very shocking in terms of what I expected from the front office and what a welcome surprise! I’m sure Larsen is a great guy but I was so over the experiment. I’m looking forward to see who we bring in because at this point I’ll welcome just about anybody.

  6. tehjarvis

    Wow. I didn’t think they’d do it.

Now who wants to come coach Laine, Johnny and a top pick?

  7. PurpleThumbTack

So a top 4 pick and Larsen out, i like it

  8. Larsen may be a good guy. But he can’t coach.

Wonder where we go next, I imagine we don’t go with another first time HC.

  9. ArgentMoonWolf

Not so sure about Manny needing to go but I guess maybe they are trying to start fresh with Elvis?

He knew last night. He was crying at the post game conference.

Honestly I’m over the moon about Manny Legace too

I actually really like Lars as a person. Something he said in his opening press conference when he got hired was that he enjoyed the criticism and wanted to set a high standard for himself and the team. He actually exceeded my expectations his first season with the team being as good as we were. And it seemed like the team loved having him behind the bench

I understand that the team was the walking dead but man those first 10 games were brutal. Just horrible performance against Arizona, Boston, NJ, even the Finland trip was just awful. Almost felt like the team was playing like they wanted him fired. A tale of two seasons.

Now the big question is who do ya get? Do you take a shot with Jalonen given his Olympic experience?

Idk the point I’m trying to make is I’m sad Lars is gone but it had to be done and idk who the team will hire from here

As a hockey fan, I get it and totally support the move. That said, a small part of me hates to see it. I was super vocal against giving him the HC job, and well, it went about as expected… BUT, the players seemed to genuinely like him, and he seemed like he was a genuinely good guy. I was REALLY hoping he’d prove my initial expectations wrong and break through, but unfortunately that never happened. Good luck Lars.

I’m shocked and a lil sad for the guy but I get it

Mods may want to pin this one as the official thread to discuss.

I wondered how much Legace would be looked at. I gotta think the Kivi death impacted him in a professional way just like it looks like it has Elvis.

  15. New era of CBJ incoming 🤞. Gaudreau, one of the top picks in a stacked draft, new hopefully competitive coach. Jarmo and Davidson have a real chance to turn this club around this summer

Anybody else hear the cannon fire when they read the headline?

Thank goodness, I was so afraid they were going to use the injuries as an excuse and bring him back, ignoring that the Jackets were a disaster under Larsen even before the injuries started. Truth be told, Larsen should have been fired after 10 games while it was still possible to try and salvage the season. He rarely played Z when the first line was out there, giving opponents a huge and inexplicable break by not pairing our most dynamic defensive player/line with our first line, he instituted a new defensive system that was an absolute disaster, he was totally unprepared when the regular season started, with discombobulated lines with no synergy, the power play was a disaster, players looked like they had no interest in playing for him and on several nights just gave up (first time I could remember cbj being booed off the ice since I started going to games years ago, and it happened several times this season). Nothing personal against Larsen, by all accounts he’s a good guy, but this had to be done for the good of the players and the organization. Now we can go into next year with a fresh outlook and renewed hope. Go CBJ!!!!

Love the guy, but this is good. Also everyone focusing on HC. I’m glad to see a new goaltender coach too.

  19. Why did Jarmo frame it as BL was staying? “Not judged on wins and losses” and then boom. I guess they are saying they expected more even with the injuries but why frame it like hes staying

  20. ThunderousDemon86

Sucks for Brad the person, he seems like a good dude.

That being said, as a fan of the team, this had to happen. Surprised Jarmo did it just 12 hours after the finale lol.

  21. deepthroathamburger

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Elvis leaves without Manny here.

  22. I’m a little surprised but not. Larsen Tender’s head coach was a trainwreck: decent Offense, Embarrassing defense, and goaltending. I thought to myself last night. If the Blue Jackets believe that they find a better head coach now. They will fire Larsen.

  23. headinthered

I think my number one thing I’ve commented about in this sub is how many times I said please get rid of Brad Larson and not just now while he’s head Coach I’m talking, even when he was under Tortorella… this needed to happen.

This was not a Ryan day situation- or he was lucky enough to be a head coach of an amazing team and give it by default Almost….

Larson was a problem for a long time it should’ve never been made head coach

Good luck, sir in your future but peace out.

  24. lnvalidSportsOpinion

No, Larsen isn’t a bad person. We all know this. I’d invite him to my cookout and I’d play disc golf with him any day.

That doesn’t mean I think he is qualified for the job. I seriously wish him the best. But I couldn’t be more excited for a new direction.

  25. ThunderousDemon86

Some fans are always talking about winning the cup. If a move isn’t about winning the cup, then why bother.

Guess what. I’ll take a coach who can get us to solid. Give me three or four year of consistent playoff appearances. Is Ruff the guy to take NJ to the cup? Dunno, but he got them to this point they’re at now. I’ll take that for now.
