Senators’ Stützle Shines with Penalty Shot Goal

Ottawa Senators’ Tim Stützle is awarded a penalty shot when fouled from behind. Stützle takes a long winding road to the front of the net to convert the penalty shot and tie up the game 1-1 in the 1st against the Detroit Red Wings.

  1. If the action of the defenceman would not be a penalty in normal play then it shouldn’t be a penalty shot if it’s done on a breakaway.

  2. This is the most favoritism level call I've ever seen in a hockey game, and you shouldn't be proud of this highlight.

  3. Hey NHL! Why does your officiating suck so bad? What are you going to do to address the issue? Everyone knows it sucks.

  4. The most shocking thing about the penalty shot call is that it's exactly right, as per the rules which have not been followed for so many decades. Call the rules as they're written or else why do they exist? Otherwise, change them.

  5. That should never have been a penalty shot. Those refs were making bad calls both games
