New Jersey Devils Make A HUGE TRADE And Acquire Ryan Graves From Colorado Avalanche!

The New Jersey Devils Make A HUGE TRADE And Acquire Ryan Graves From the Colorado Avalanche For Mikhail Maltsev and a 2021 Second Round Pick. This is a great trade for both sides as the NJ Devils get a big, physical Defenseman they have been lacking this year and the Avalanche trade a Defenseman they may have lost in the SEATTLE KRAKEN EXPANSION DRAFT and get some much needed cap space to try and sign Gabriel Landeskog and Grubauer. They get a big forward who can play a solid 2 way game after recently announcing they will not bring back Bellemare.

  1. I like this move a lot, great shutdown guy for the Devils, and the Avs get a good return as well

  2. This is also a great example of how NJ can take advantage of teams in a crunch due to the expansion draft. Fitzy did a great job here getting a solid d'man for peanuts. Tomorrow will probably see several more deals like this happening across the NHL so let's see if NJ is part of another one.

  3. As an Avs fan, I'm ok with this trade. We were gonna lose Graves for nothing anyway so we get a fourth liner to replace Bellemare and a "f**k it" 2nd rd draft pick to recoup one of the picks we gave away for Toews in a draft year with little to no scouting due to covid that could turn into nothing or maybe get lucky and find a Datsyuk. I'll take it.

  4. As for Graves, your getting a dman that has size, but doesn't use it as much as you'd like. His offense will disappoint you…he tends to shoot from the point no matter what, resulting in blocks so the puck goes the other way. His dzone coverage is good, but not elite, he tends to panic when pressured with the puck on his stick. I think for NJ he'll be #3 on the depth until you build up the skill around him. He's solid…but don't expect great things

  5. Defense is the #1 need going into the offseason for New Jersey. I am really happy with this situation and that Fitzgerald made a honey of a deal to acquire Graves.

  6. I see you very happy, I think I'm even more happy because it envolves Maltsev and not other young guy. Seattle take Johnson please, thanks

  7. very happy with this trade. with Ziegenthaler, Kevin Bahl, and now Graves, suddenly that once undersized "soft" defense has some bigtime size and snarl to it. as for Maltzev, i believe he can be a solid 2-way bottom-six forward who can penalty-kill as well, good luck to him. great trade, very happy

  8. Avs fan here. Graves is a good d man. But not as good as you think. Yes he is physically large at 6'5 220 but he DOES NOT play a big man game. He is not overly physical in general and was miscast as an Avs defender considering how slow his foot speed is. After we traded Ian Cole, Graves became by far the Avs slowest player. He is a turnover machine with the puck on his stick as well so don't expect breakout play with any regularity. He is good at blocking shots and logged a ton of minutes on the pk so he does serve a purpose in the NHL but he is by no means shut down anything.

  9. I have a feeling it came down to maltsev or boquist and I like boquist more..great move by the devils

  10. Great video. Yes I agree Fitz needs now to improve the right side of defense. Hopefully it is done in the FA market.
