  1. My one and only Avs authentic jersey is his #37. I chose that over a sea of Sakic's, Forsberg's, and Roy's. Still proudly wear that jersey to Avs games today. I was crushed when Pierre LaCroix traded him for relatively little in exchange.

  2. Fun fact, Chris Drury is the part owner of Colony Grill pizza in Ct. Very good pizza btw

  3. Rangers mistake was signing him as a Free Agent, never a fan of his. Hopefully he gets a Cup and I can change my opinion of him

  4. The Drury family is hockey royalty in CT. Playing youth hockey in Bridgeport, you heard all the stories about Ted and Chris. Fairfield Prep’s finest.

  5. The biggest what if of the 07 off-season. Seeing both of them leave Buffalo sucked especially with Soupie getting traded 6 months later. I honestly thought they were keeping Briere but with how Golasanos finances were, I don't blame him. It still stings since Briere was the guy who scored on us when we faced Phillie in 2011. Ironic in a way

  6. The Avs from 95-96 to 01-02 were unstoppable. 2 Stanley Cups and 4 other Western Conference Finals appearances.

  7. Why was it well known that guys like Drury and Briere would leave? I was a bit upset at the time that they were co captains and left Buffalo. I didn't understand how you could be a captain and abandon your team. I was young back then so have no idea about what the situation was but that was my feelings as a fan.

  8. Thought you might mention the odd captain situation in Buffalo where he and Daniel briere took turns wearing the C.

  9. Always liked Drury. Was happy to see him in Colorado, saw a number of his games back then when I still had tickets.

  10. i hated Chris Drury… through no fault of his own, but when he played for the Avs, the ESPN production would not shut-up about Drury being "clutch" because of him being in the little league world series… they drove it into the ground & just made it so annoying that they brought it up ALL THE TIME. so, fuck ESPN for making him into a lightning rod… but i did appreciate him when he was w/ the Sabres

  11. Funny, I remembered that Ted Drury played for the Flames but had completely forgotten that Chris Drury played for the Flames. Oh well, not a very memorable year for the Flames. They finished last in their division, so we try to forget it.

  12. Only man in hockey to GM two teams at once! Wild that they allowed that to happen.

  13. man that aves team was stacked, they had sakic, forseberg, drury tanguay malian heduk foot blake bourque roy

  14. So he left Buffalo and NY bought him out. A little ironic dont you think. Love Drury btw.

  15. Another fun fact about Drury is that he’s a part owner of Colony Grill. A bar style pizza that started in Connecticut. It’s popular with locals and has expanded quite a bit

  16. Buffalo ownership, Golisano and Larry Quinn were awful. They are frauds and gutted that team. And gutted the best fans in hockey. Darcy Regier didn't help either.

  17. I heard former Flames players saying he hated playing in Canada. He wanted out of Calgary

  18. Hearing about Chris Drury playing baseball in the LLWS reminds me of Tom Glavine and him playing hockey so well, that he eventually got drafted by the Los Angeles Kings. Had Drury chosen baseball over hockey and Glavine choosing hockey over baseball, it would have been very interesting how their lives and careers, as well as history, have been so different.

  19. Loved Drury in Colorado. Remember meeting him and Hejduk at a signing. Great guys wish we could have kept him but I think they had to decide between him and the duke and can’t complain about keeping Hejduk who I believed finished as the runner up for the Calder behind Drury. Man the Ava were stacked back then!

  20. If you were an Avalanche fan during Drury's time there, didn't it seem like almost every goal was a big one? He was definitely clutch!

  21. Watched Drury since he started with the Av’s and as a Ranger fan enjoyed watching the Av’s and him in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Guy was super clutch in the playoffs and underrated his whole career. Was amazing those 3 seasons with Buffalo with the combo of Brier and loved him on the Rangers and has continued to do excellent deals on building a winning culture in New York. Obviously a Stanley Cup for NYR would be icing on the cake but he’s done a fantastic job on and off the ice for the NYR.

  22. If I remember right, I think he was the first player to win hobey baker and Calder trophy the next year

  23. As an Avs fan growing up he was my favorite player. 37 became my goalie number because of him! I remember the trade to Calgary upset many fans!

  24. I don't think Drury was the first guy to win both the Hobey Baker and Stanley Cup, however he was the first guy to win the Hobey Baker and the Calder trophy. From what I see, both Neal Broten and Tony Hrkac won the Hobey Baker and the Stanley cup before Drury, with Broten and Hrkac winning their Hobey Bakers in 1981 and 1987, and winning their cups in 1995 and 1999.
