I love to hate the Calgary Flames 🔥 I’m an oiler fan but I must say I feel bad that we won’t have a battle of Alberta. I like Sutter but maybe it’s time for him to hang up his hat. Better luck next season Calgary, hope you come back stronger.

I think it’s going to be an interesting off-season for the Flames. Still nothing about Treliving getting a new contract, among other bench staff. If CFSE is not careful, this could turn into an organizational nightmare.
This is such a bad take. How do you explain last season with CGY? You don't even mention the team losing their two best forwards. Or the fact that Mang, Lindholm and others are greatly under performing from last year. I'm calling this now. Just like in MTL and in Vancouver. A new head coach is not going to change shitty player attitudes and an AHL roster.
Sutter is troglodyte. He has no place in today's league.

kadri's points per year average prior to this year is 39 points. Most of those years with Toronto. Huberdeau's points per year average prior to this year is 61 points. Both players are at 55. Both had career years last year with different teams with different systems. Kadri's point production is 16 above his average. Huberdeau is 6 below his. To think that they would come in and adequately replace Tkachuk and Gaudreau was hopeful, but not realistic.
Huge disappointment no question. I put it on Sutter, acted like a Bi*ch all season, nothing good to say, fundamental error is making a team play your chosen style and not looking to maximize what they bring as a group. Old as the hills; I like my teams to dump and blow their D off the puck winning battles at the net for goals. But your best players are excellent scoring goals off the rush? They play this style, or won't play. They are not playing any more this year. Coach is past his B Before date.
If Sutter gets fired, can I have his job?

As a fan, I think this falls back on management and coaching more than anything. Im sorry, but anyone who thought Kadri was going to save this team is delusional. Same with Huberdeau! He's a playmaker, and Kadri is a 40 – 50 point player, if even that… You lost the 2 biggest pieces of that team in Gaudreau & Tkachuk. Lost all the chemistry, which is the most important thing to have on a sports team.
It seems like Kadri wanted a team where he didnt want to do any of the heavy lifting if you get what I mean… The problem with Sutters coaching is that he won't change or adapt. When you're getting 40 SOG with only one goal, or even none some games, but the other team only has 15-20 SOG with 3+ goals and not once but 10+ times, there's a coaching problem…
Take a good look at Vancouver and how fast Tocchet turned that team around… Bruce was calling his team mentally weak and wasnt building his team up, where as I think Sutter is doing the opposite and breaking them down. Kids today aren't able to handle criticism like they were even 10 years ago. They take it to heart instead of use it as motivation like they should..

I dont want to see Sutter jobless, but I would like to see a coaching change. Putting him back there next year will just be a replay of what happened in LA and cause a media frenzy no one wants.

How he got signed to that extension, while it was clear his system wasn't working shows who should go first. This needs to be a big shake-up. GM, then the new one can get a new coach/coaching staff, new scouts, and of course the odd player shuffle. Hope Stone comes back for 1 more season.
When something ain't working true leaders will take ownership because they know it's their responsibility. When Sutter blamed his players it showed his lack of leadership

This video smells like bullshit. Calgary was top 11 in high danger chances for… They simply lack high end finish. That’s on the GM. Same system as Carolina. Blame the coach all you want but your thesis is shot. Of course Markstrom single handedly costing them the playoffs has nothing to do with it.

As an Oilers fan, I'm disappointed that we couldn't beat them in the playoffs, a second straight year. It was sooooo satisfying, last year. Also, it's great to see Kadri be the mule of the team. He's got the kind of face that you just want to punch, when you look at it. Sorry, not sorry. Did I piss anyone off, yet? <3
I almost put $500 for the flames to win the Stanley Cup Sutter hockey is not good he thinks he can bully every team to win the game AKA Nick Ritchie in the shootout.
Stop with the Sutter criticism. Gaudreau wanted out simply to reside in the US and Tkachuck for similar reasons, though I do wonder if there was conflict with him and Sutter. Remember Sutter was the coach in LA when the Doughty / Tkachuck feud happened. Treliving did a decent job in the off-season. Everyone believed Calgary was just as good or better. Hubredeau, Kadri and Weeger were the additions. The failure isn't on Sutter and it isn't on Treliving. It is on the players period.
Nick Ritchie in the shoot-out. Who cares. How many shoot out loses did Calgary have this year? Plenty. I would imagine they practice this and Ritchie was doing well with it in practice. Plus, the opposition wouldn't have a book on him either. Calgary didn't make playoffs this year because guys like Hubredeau, Kadri and Markstrom didn't perform. For the salaries these guys are getting, I don't care about their feelings and if they like the coach or not. They need to have a bit more self respect and perform. Period.

The quantity shots strat was fine. You need goalies to make a save. Flames goalies were the weakest by far out of any team competing for a playoff spot.

I like Sutter, but he's gone. You can't fire the team. This is a case of big $ players not fitting a system that does work. The players deserve the blame, but the coach will pay the price.

Sutter seems to live in the past where he thinks iginla is still on the ice. As far as markstrom gose he needs to stay in the fuckin net. He has turned over way to many pucks and let in stupid goals.
