  1. Bro It was hilarious !! Players take shots at each other all the time . It's literally the first time he has said a bad word in his entire career.

Let's be honest if the leafs get knocked out in the first round, you and the rest of the world will use Wideman"s comments and turn it into one of the best mems ever.

  2. I’m hoping Marty suits Wideman up for the Islanders and keeps him on the bench for the whole game.

  3. He clearly didn't like the laffs putting out there top pp unit up 6-1. These guys don't deserve respect so why give it to them ?

  4. dont get offended!! players insult each other all the time!! this is the leafs remember? it's a rivalry and wideman just said what we all thought

  5. I can see how it can be a funny come back at having the oposing team be so unscared of you they put a "worst" goalie on the ice lol. But I feel it was a bitchy butt hurt moment.
Feels like gossip level unimportant issue. He did not insult anyone in a nasty personal way or do some nasty shit on ice ( that i know of)

  6. Alexander will have nothing to do with the Leafs loosing in the playoffs and the remark was NOT directed at Alexander but to the team itself. Please cool it!

  7. IDK the whole story iI would have to know WHY the Leafs put him in and for a minute?
Barron has been the worse but Edmunson the worst plus minus as Edmunson leads the team in worst minus.
Ok so i THINK i know what Chris is talking about.I >>THINK what Chris is talking about is that he feels the Leafs are saying ok the Habs are so crappy we can use the Habs game /team as the team we can throw him out against.
SO imo Chris is NOT talking about the goalie at all he is seeing this as the Leafs are taking a jab at the habs organization…you know the habs are so bad we can use our no name goalie.

  8. As to Wideman himself iI don't see him as a player to take jabs at as a fan because he has often been the guy sitting on the bench and doing it with no crying so he has been a team player.I also do not see Wideman as one of the problems on defense the problem as i see it is the TEAM lacking proper systems they have NO CLUE how to play in their own end or even the offensive end.
FACT ..the Habs look awful i ntheir end NOT hte defense fault and the Habs have not had any reliable scoring for 30+ years. So you can cycle 200-300 players over that time and they still never have a decent scorer and that is because as i stated they have no structure no systems.
This stems to very poor coaching.

  9. Im kinda hoping it wasnt about the young goalie but more about the leafs in general. I think he doesnt like them and, like many of us, would find it funny to see them stumped again in the first round. But yeah he was way out of line if he really meant it against that particular decision by the leafs..

  10. Not deserve it but rather just simply fulfill their destiny of perpetual playoff failure.

  11. That’s what Chris means they will be out in a few weeks. He’s right on a lot of leafs hype all year for a few more games . Seems about right !

  12. Im sorry but that was a joke of a move by the Leafs. This is the NHL, putting an emergency backup goalie in for a minute at the end of a drubbing against the Habs is disrespectful.
    They have pride you know.
    F the leafs.

  13. The emergency back up should be reserved for emergencies. If two keepers, one from each team, were injured, the EBUG must be ready to suit up for either team… and with, say, a 6-1 scoreline, what about the losing team throwing him in nets for a minute? Wouldn't that be the same thing? NHL contracts have performance bonuses, so there are also financial implications to throwing in a lower-league player.

  14. He has a point, if teams start using EBUGs at any given moment like that, it won't be as special when they're properly used. The opponent should feel compelled to salute the EBUG after the game and there's no reason to do so when they're used this way. The game was humiliating enough and his comment was spur of the moment genuine frustration. Making a big deal out of everything is the reason most player/coach interviews are so generic, safe and dull.

  15. Let’s not forget Wideman was a Senator. Is it too much to imagine there’s a bit of natural disdain for the leafs? Did the Canadiens like the Nordiques? How about the infamous Good Friday massacre between the Habs and Nordiques on April 20, 1984? How about the Flames and Oilers having a special provincial love for each other? Ask any Flyer if he likes the Pens. I love Wideman’s sardonic comment for what it is. Was it respectful? Nope. Was it in good taste? Not really. Is he the only person to ever think it? I highly doubt it. Was it funny af? Yup!

  16. As a Habs fan, I LOVE his comment. Ease up dude, everything is so bloody PC, it's boring!
