In a game that New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers fans had circled on the calendar, The NJ Devils Beat Rangers 2-1. This game had it all & meant alot because it Possibly could be the NY Rangers and NJ Devils in a 1st round Playoff Matchup.
The New Jersey Devils, not playing their best hockey lately, stepped up and took it the the Rangers early getting a 2-0 lead on goals by Haula and Meier, but Kreider cut the lead to one and both teams battled to try and win it for their club.
This game couldve went either way, but with the experience the Devils players lack they didn’t show signs of slowing down and really gave New Rangers Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko a taste of what this NHL rivalry is like.
Will it be a Devils and Rangers First round match-up? Well have to wait and see how the remaining games go with the rest of the season.

Very fun game to watch, it would be a crazy series for sure… HOWEVER… I would really prefer to avoid NYR in the 1st round primarily because the drain it would take on both teams physically AND emotionally would be significant and that's not a good thing moving on to the next rounds. It was absolutely a factor in '12 when NJ beat them in the ECF and then were pretty gassed out going against a strong LA team that was relatively fresh. I'm not saying it would be a guaranteed playoff crushing series, but with a team still learning as they go, this would be a really hard obstacle to overcome since even a veteran team would have the tendency to play their biggest rival harder than any other team.
That said, if they face each other, I'll be buckled in and ready for a hell of a series.

What a relief. The Rags have an incredible team on paper with a hand full of world class shooters. Their goalie is definitely championship quality. But… we saw their Achilles Heal in this game. Their age has made them slow. If Vanecek is on his A game, we can definitely beat the Rags in Round 1.

As a Devils fan I’m very excited to see the team step up and play that type of game. I was very impressed with the 3rd line and especially Boqvist. I will admit I was never a fan of his but he impressed me last night playing in all areas of the game. To win they need a 3rd line chipping in because I’m really not sure what you’re going to get from Jack 5 on 5 in the playoffs, teams are going to attack him and I don’t believe he’s yet physically mature to handle the hitting. Anyway to beat the Rangers you need to stay out of the box.
If I am being honest, I prefer playing the NYR in the opening round over the NY Islanders. The Rags have shown that they are not well adept at handling the quick transition game.
