What's up with Blackwood? He's awesome. He took off when the team just started playing average defense. No goalie could look good with the way the defense was playing under Coach Hynes. He somehow didn't look terrible though under Hynes, which is a testament to him.
In February he's been the best rookie overall: 5-0, 1.00 GAA, .975 SVP and 2 shutouts.
He's officially a starter not just a consideration, look at his stats from his call up during the 18-19 season this isn't a flash in the pan. He was projected to be a 1st round pick in 2015 so he's playing up to his draft potential. We Devil's fans haven't been so confident in a starting goalie since Brodeur left. Yes I said Brodeur, cause it's true.
Also, he's not a UFA, he's only a RFA and he doesn't have arbitration rights yet. We should be able to get a good backup and don't be surprised if the Devil's management overpays for a backup to avoid a repeat of this year. We'll have the most cap space in the entire NHL. Especially if we trade Palmieiri by Monday.
