Patrick Eaves was never the same player after this, at least in Detroit. He had two solid seasons before this hit, and was rewarded with that contract.
Ironic that Eaves was later traded to Nashville in 2014 for David Legwand.
Happy Eaves has found a new home in Dallas now, wish him the best.

Watching the Ducks-Preds game tonight and Josi almost knocked Eaves head first into a slap shot. Looked like the outcome would've been the same but luckily Eaves moved his head at the last second.
It doesn't matter what team you root for in the NHL, when you see a player hit in the face by a puck, the only thing you can say is is, "That's gotta hurt!"
