  1. Lebanc did this so they could re-sign Thornton… Im sure he had a clause in this contract to get what he want's with a higher AAV then the team was offering originally next year… Lebanc did a selfless act here. He should get some props.

  2. Born and raised in SJ…

1 million ( before taxes and agent fees) is barely "middle class" here lol. It's crazy.

  3. I believe Kevin is not eligible for an offer sheet because he has played enough games in the league, the same thing is for boeser in Vancouver

  4. I think Lebanc did this purposely. He didn’t want to sign a 2-4 year deal at a reasonable price knowing in a year or two he’d be worth way more than what he’s being paid. So Instead of signing now he said I’ll stay low for 1 year match my production or have better year and then I’ll come back to negotiations with a lot more leverage to sign a longer term deal he wants, and it most likely will be at the high end if not more than market value cause he would have shown the consistency in his production and he can also use the fact he left money in the table to bring in a rental at the deadline to make a run for the playoffs or in the playoffs. All this just gives him a lot of leverage for next year and Im sure it will pay off for Lebanc. And on a side note I would love to see him with a Chicago logo on the front of his jersey.

  5. I think all players should do small contracts to help their team get better if you really want to win the Cup take a minimum contract so that your team has plenty of cap space.

  6. I don't think Labanc is arbitration eligible. I think arbitration is only for RFAs who've played out both their entry level contracts and their second contracts but still haven't reached the age or seasons played threshold required to become a UFA. I could be wrong about that though.

  7. I love Kevin‘s sacrifice for the team but I really wished we used the spare money to offer Pavs close to what he wanted. I feel like we could’ve kept him now

  8. he might have a verbal agreement with SJ that hes gonna get payback next year, so just they can bring back Jumbo Joe and maybe Marleau. Btw there are so many crazy contracts, including MacDavid, Mathews,Panarin etc….i take Boston top line where they all got 6+ and tell everyone to shut up. Are you telling me this make sense? GMs in NHL are jokes, players have too much power.

  9. See now the thing is with letting the rookies getting more money than currently allowed is I think it gives the players a chance to prove that they are worth the 6-7 million that they may get when they get off entry level. There have been cases where rookies are so hyped up and after a year you never hear of them again. So why should that rookie get the 6-7 million contact that they want when you don't know if they will handle the pressure or just completely collapse

  10. Kevin LaBanc is the Next Joe Pavelski on the Sharks…An American Late rounder who has already been good, and only will get better from here on out. This was a selfless act, maybe he wanted to stay in San Jose, he probably loves it here in beautiful California. Whatever the reason is, I'm excited he is back in Teal, and he WILL get paid next contract. He played very well this season, and into the Playoffs. Joe Thornton being his mentor will be doing wonders to his career, and some damage to the Opponents. His Vision, Playmaking ability, and an underrated shot make him a HELLUVA steal.

  11. I think you guys are underrating him at 3-4 mil. He’s worth 6 mil easily. If he signed 6×6 no one would bat an eye
