I think this is it for Toews as not only a Blackhawk but for his career. The way he described dealing with his illness the past two-three years just doesnāt sound worth it in the long run to keep trying to play hockey if it impacts his health that badly.
Iāll of course always appreciate what he brought to and what he did for this team as the captain for 16 years.

This is the reason I bought 100 level tickets behind the bench to the last home game when it was announced he would be out for a while.
I had a feeling it could be the end and I don’t want to miss his last game if it comes to that.

Really gonna miss Toews, but it’s time to hang them up. He’s been a shell of himself the last few years and just doesn’t have it any more. Dude played a LOT of really tough hockey for over a decade. Long Cup runs, Olympics, etc. He needs to do what is best for his long term health, both physical and mental.
I’d love him to get his farewell tour, but I don’t think it’s in the cards. Maybe he can skate last home game of the season or at least skate warm-ups to get a sendoff.
19 and 88 will be in the rafters soon enough. May even need to commission a new statue for outside the UC.

Stars fan coming in peace. Saw that he skated this morning and even tho I knew the odds of him playing were slim I was low key hoping to see him tonight. I listened to a lot of the games last season on the radio and everytime Kane and Towes were coming down the ice together my butthole puckered like no other. Dude is a legend!

* Hossa lost to a skin condition, literally becoming allergic to his gear.
* Crawford due to concussions.
* Seabrook due to injuries
* Keith got to retire on his terms, after going to one more Conference Final.
* Toews is going to ride out his contract into the offseason and retire, due to various illnesses stemming from COVID. – Probably the worst one imo.
* Kane is still playing and will be for a few more years though.

I really hope he never plays again for his own health. This long haul Covid shit is awful and we still don’t know much about it. If it can do this to a world class athlete just think what it could do to a normal person? He should do whatever he wants but I hope he sits in down.
He can maybe do a “One-More Shift” at the last game
