How about those goalie interference calls huh.
I like when blatantly tanking teams end up putting it together, going on a heater, and finishing way better than they were supposed to. The Yotes have done exactly that this year, that team was supposed to be a true bottom 2/3 and they’re very firmly in 5th/6th to last now. I just wish it was the Blackhawks doing that instead to screw up their lottery odds
Yzerman sent Vrana to the Blues to better our draft odds
Connor McDavid needs to score 7 points in 7 games to hit 150 points this season.
Straight up insane. What a time to be alive.
Penguins fans are sore losers they are bitching at Sullivan in their subreddit at the moment its pretty sad to see. At least when we lose we expect it
Bert rumored to be at 5.5 to sign long term in Boston, kind of a bummer there weren’t any negotiations for that amount but with Mazur signing maybe we’ll get lucky and he can be new, non-injury prone replacement.
Bo Horvat has just 6 goals in 23 games with the Islanders so far, despite him massively leading all Islanders forwards in ice time.
Small sample size, but that’s gotta be a bit worrisome for a team that just signed him until 2031.
Busy yesterday. Why did coach get tossed out?
Yesterday was a pretty solid day for the tank (except us winning, but it’s difficult to get mad about that). Canucks and Blues going to OT and phliers winning.

Griffins sign Ryan Bednard to a PTO and released St Gyr.
Just one more win and we are officially better than we were last year.

Last night, the team skated out to Lose Yourself at the start of the third period, and it was such a vibe. Lights dimmed, animations were activated. You knew shit was going down.
Edit: auto correct changed it to loose
i love the idea of hockey players hypothetically behaving like NPCs to exploit obscure rules. i’ve previously mentioned the method to spitefully erase two assists from an EN goal, something that nearly happened to the Wings a year or two ago (javelin throwing your stick at a player breaking away towards an EN. if you knock the puck away, it’s an Awarded Goal which is unassisted. still a goal, but you can fuck with your opponents’ stat sheets a bit).
so i was looking at the rules around pulling your goalie in OT, and while i’m sure most of us are aware of the rule that says you forfeit the loser point if you lose after pulling the goalie in OT, apparently there is an exception that allows you to keep that loser point. it’s somehow even dumber that the other thing i mentioned because it involves scoring on yourself (intentionally or unintentionally), but section 10 rule 84.2 states:
“A team shall be allowed to pull its goalkeeper in favor of an additional skater in the overtime period. However, should that team lose the game during the time in which the goalkeeper has been removed, it would forfeit the automatic point gained in the tie at the end of regulation play, **except if the goalkeeper has been removed at the call of a delayed penalty against the other team. Should the goalkeeper proceed to his bench for an extra attacker due to a delayed penalty call against the opposing team, and should the non-offending team shoot the puck directly into their own goal, the game shall be over and the team that was to be penalized declared the winner.**”
theoretically Team A could make it to overtime where Team B is assessed a delayed penalty, A pulls their goalie, then decides “actually never mind, you can have the second point we don’t want to play hockey anymore” before booting it directly into their own net. and since (to my knowledge at least) the rule about a distinct kicking motion only applies to goals scored on the *opposing* net, this would end the game with Team A getting to keep the loser point. thank you for coming to my TED talk
I’m stuck in the passenger seat for 13 hours on my way to Boston today. I am bee oh arr ee dee bored.
I loved Lalonde’s ejection yesterday. He gave the refs the exact earful that I want to give them whenever we play the Pens and every call magically goes Pittsburgh’s way. Great to see a passionate coach sticking up for his guys
Daily reminder we’re winning the lottery no matter what the odds are
Question: does that count as the Boogeyman’s first win as our coach?
I also had to make up the words for what Newsy was saying when watching with my 6 year old. Where’s the truck?! Where’s the truck?!
So when Newsy gets his $25k fine today y’all want to pool together and make a donation on his behalf to the National Federation of the Blind?
Griffiins @ 7pm
I am excited about the Mazur call up, it’ll be fun to see what he can do
Probably a repetitive question, but are the Wings mathematically out of the playoffs now?
Mazur debut tonight

Didn’t Larkin get a hat trick when Bashil was not behind the bench and now Perron?
Edvinsson and chiarot expected for tmrw.
Saying goodbye to my dog this afternoon. He’s been by my side for the entirety of my post-college adult life, so he’s been there for some of the best and worst moments of my life. Absolutely gut wrenching. You know this is an inevitably eventually, but holy shit having to make the decision to move on sucks so fucking hard.
That third goal by perron was such a beaut.
Split two players, settled the puck down, and went top shelf with the backhand.
