The Nashville Predators just can’t catch a break. Not only did they suffer two deflating losses this weekend, including a 7-0 drubbing the New York Rangers and a heartbreaking 3-2 OT loss to playoff rivals Winnipeg Jets, but they’re also now without Captain Roman Josi due to an undisclosed injury. On today’s episode, we break down how the Preds move forward without their best player, and we question if Josi’s injury is the final knockout punch to a season that’s already seen a mass player exodus at the trade deadline and a rash of injuries to the likes of Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen, and Alexandre Carrier.
We also discuss in what context should we view the Preds’ embarrassing 7-0 loss to Rangers, and the one lesson players should take away from it… the ways in which Phil Tomasino and Luke Evangelista have improved their games since being called up the Preds’ NHL lineup… and why haven’t we seen more from Matt Duchene in the second half of the season?

In just 2 games, all playoff hopes have been dashed.
Lots of positives this year despite the overall disappointment. Saros is still top-notch (though he still seems to need a few games to warm up when the season starts). Tomasino is maturing, and Glass has been consistently good; both seem to have benefited from extra time in Milwaukee. Evangelista looks great, has impressive playmaking ability. Novak, already 26, but seems capable of being a good 3rd line player who can create offense. Parssinen could be a good 4th line player with potential for more. Lauzon has shown great improvement, tough and mobile. Newcomer Foote has been solid, if not flashy, and has potential on D. G Askarov had a good first season in Milwaukee and RW Kemell is already there for his North American introduction. So there are good building blocks and draft picks for the Preds' rebuild to get off to a good start.
One word to describe this weekend expected… With all the starters in before the trade this team was maybe a 20 to15th place team. expectations shouldn't be too high for the Preds now. Looking forward to the draft and a new direction….
