I was one of those people because the way he was playing, I would have taken Hogs over him. It wasn’t indicative of him as a player, just how awfully he was playing

Petterson has come into his own this season. He always showed glimpses of being what he is now, right from the start. He really is a game changer and I expect him to become a Hart nominee in the coming seasons.

Pssshh, that scrub is barely out scoring a 32 year old defenceman

Don’t remind some folks around here of those takes. They especially don’t like to be reminded of their “got his money and quit to post on Instagram” takes or the “trade him before his value gets lower” takes.

    That slump is pretty fascinating.
Like the dude actually looked completely washed and cooked.
Didn’t skate hard. Physicality non existent. When he lost the puck, that was it, he wasn’t gonna fight for it back. Shoots wide, looks up in sadness and disappears from the play. Defensively irresponsible to say the least.

It’s like his brain got put into another person for half a year there.

Hopefully he breaks 100 points barrier

Nobody said that? Your title is totally made up? All projections for Tre Kronor made by actual Swedish journalists had him in the top 6?

I defended Petey last season and pointed out how Nathan MacKinnon didn’t really break out until his 5th NHL season. MacKinnon had 97 points in his 5th season and Petey will likely hit that if not better it.

Boudreau predicted that Petey would hit 120 points soon (not this season) and I think he could do it!

At the time, that was true though. He was REALLY struggling. It’s a very different story now.

This sub has a heavy recency bias.

If a player is performing bad, then thats how they are now and will stay that way forever.

8×11.5m incoming. i HOPE we can get him down to 10.75m.

I’m just going to ignore who we could’ve drafted in 2014

  14. Karlsson might be the second dman to win the Norris while being negative in plus minus. Lidstrom won it while being a minus 2

Watching him now it’s crazy to think about. But that slump was really bad. National teams would’ve been selected end of December.
From the start of the season he had six goals and 17 points in 33 games. 9 of the 17 on the pp.
so yeah at the time with way he was playing it would’ve been hard for Sweden to put him in the top six/nine.
Thankfully that was an anomaly and he’d probably be the first player they would name now.

Does anyone else remember a preseason/early season rumour of a Bratt for Boeser trade?

  17. When he was playing through a nagging injury, and trying different sticks, because his usual stick was torquing his wrist the wrong way? That Slump? The fact he played through it shows the type of player he really is. He’s got the same work ethic as the Sedins. Even through his slump he still ended the season with a career-high in goals. He’s undeniably the best player (Best two-way) on the Canucks since Kesler, and this year he’s hit yet another gear. He’s not quite a generational talent, but he’s a firm franchise-level player.

  18. Does Nylander count, since he was born in Calgary?

  19. SoExcited_1

The fact that he’s +14 on a shit team is impressive. I know he gets lots of pp time but he’s also killing penalties. I think he’ll go down as the best player Vancouver has ever had… if he re-signs.

  20. Alpacaduck

I know +/- is normally a bullshit stat that emphasizes overall team quality over a player, but Petey bucking that trend just makes it even more impressive.

(Otherwise Karlsson’s numbers are probably more impressive imho aside from being worse at D than Quinn last season).

  21. Mostly_Incoherent

Pfft, he’s undoubtably the best Swedish player to ever play

  22. LightsyNights

Canada would absolutely crush Sweden in a full roster Olympic tournament.

  23. DisplacedNovaScotian

You might say he’s the *lead Swede.*

I’ll show myself to the door.

  24. StarkStorm

If NHL journalists and fans were players in the stock market, we’d all be fucked. Oh wait…
