Wtf are the refs even looking at? Itās genuinely impressive that they can somehow mess that up so bad. Most obvious trip Iāve ever seen then a pick. Ekholm is just invisible to the refs I guess. GG tho maybe next time the flames should try scoring on some of their 10 odd man rushes or 6 powerplays. Saros is a god
100% should've been a penalty there but Marky's gotta pay attention to the play developing in front of him. The way he immediately went over to the ref means he was distracted asf
Why even have a penalty system if the refs are just TRYING not to give too many power plays to one team? Why not just have it be "each team gets 3 power plays per game"? smh
Just an example of the awful league wide officiating that has gone on and gotten worse over the year's. Dangerous play's, bad calls, missed calls. 4 officials on the ice there should be less of the bullshit.
I am a flames fan. And I can tell you right now. Iām not one player on that team thinks that they lost because of the refs. Maybe Marky did at the time in the moment. But they all know that they shouldāve ended that game in the first.
Every night in the NHL on each rink there are 3 teams playing. The two hockey clubs and the officiating crew. More often than not the teams are of decent quality while the Officiating repeatedly lets down the entire league and all fans by being anywhere from atrocious to "meh". Two penalties could have been called on that OT winning sequence.
Am I the only one who doesnāt see a trip here? It is a pretty clear play for the puck, just happens to get his stick caught up. Very specifically the rules state that it isnāt a trip if itās an obvious play for the puck, which I think this was.
This is where if I were in the nhl I'd take one for the team and throw hands at the refs. Or just pull a Longest yard and fire a puck at their nuts. Maybe they'd learn that way š¤·āāļø
It's one thing to miss a call that happens in the neutral zone or that doesn't directly affect the outcome of the game. But this was a blatant trip that not only negated Calgary's offensive zone possession but led directly to a goal. In the Oiler's game last night the Rangers player hook and held the OIler's player so badly that you could have called two penalties and his stick was still in the Oiler's player equipment. But it was in the last minute of play in a tie game… so no call. NHL reffing culture is so dumb.
Ktachuk wasnāt getting to that play regardless if Eckholm was in his way or not; would have been a harsh penalty call. Didnāt see the tripping clearly so hard to tell how dude fell.

Cant blame him
Wouldn't have made a difference..but I get his point
go preds
I wish refs would call a penalty if it's a clear penalty and stop trying to "manage" the game.

Bs you suck ref get your eyes check for Pete's sake
Flames had 3 times more powerplays, just sayinā
Flames fans complaining about obvious penalties not being called.
Oilers fans: First time?

āOG WINNERā lol
I'm at the point where I root for the refs; they never lose! ššš
Blatant trip + interference, but hey, it's overtime so they don't call penalties of course
If I had a dollar for every time a referee decided a game instead of the players Iād be rich!
He let himself be distracted by the no-call. Make the save, don't blame the ref.

Shitty play by defenseman. Can't tell you how many times I see pro hockey defensemen not take away the pass. Peewee level of play there.
He steps on the puck and falls idk what all of you are even mad about ROFL
Ok so Dube got an interferance call on the PP but THAT wasnt interferance? Come on
Always a good day when the flames losr
Backlund kinda looked like bambi when that stick touched him
He embellished that.. should have been 2 mins for flames

I understand why he is furious. Those were blatant penalties that allowed the other team to win.
I believe the refs choose the winner before the game starts!
Those are both clear penalties. You can't let that stuff go in 3 on 3 it results in a wide open odd man rush every time.
Hey goalie your job is to focus on the puck…not do the ref job.
The trip sure, but I wouldn't call that interference.
Not a Flamers fan but that was clearly a trip, and clearly interference on Tkachuk
In the referee world thats like the easiest penalty to call. Nobody would complain if you called it cuz everybody knew it
Markstrom wasn't upset he was stating his case
Would have been a weak interference call considering Tkachuk was taking his sweet old time getting back. Skate hard and you'll get the call.
I can understand the missed tripping call but calling that interference is laughable
LOL as an oilers fan this was pretty blatant tripping and the interference was legit an obvious pick play like how is that not called?
OK it was a trip and/or interference but he didn't skate back AT ALL.
Refs wins once again.

Hahaha Backlund can't skate and Markstrom can see that from 200 feet? Garbage team.
At least it's not a playoff game.

I'm just now catching up now with highlights and all I can say is… WTF IS THIS?!?!?!?
Brenk has screwed up so many times this year, minor league, very minor , official

Marky shoudve taken the refs helmet off with his stick
Maybe if he spent more time playing the pick than worrying about what went on up the ice he makes the save.
He isn't the captain, leaving the crease to confront an officer should be a suspension and fine.
