The best quote to come out of the Wild locker room lastnight from coach Dean Evason regarding what happened in the second period with Binnington: “I don’t think anything of it. It’s old school hockey. It looked familiar to me.”

I’ve never been a huge fan of dean, but this honestly won some respect points!
R/hockey has been wonderfully predictable today. So this quote was a breath of fresh air.
Love it. You’ve got these national bloggers that are just flicking their beans ready to shit all over Jordan Binnington. Looking at you Greg Wyshniski; dude doesn’t have the balls to say half the shit he writes to Binnington’s face.
Binnington’s antics have irked me on occasion but I had no problem with last night. Took me back to watching games with my dad in the 90s.
I think he said all the right things in the post-game interview too.
You can’t hit a goalie after a goal and not expect a situation to develop.
Only people I’m mad at is the linesmen.
I think last night was the first time I’ve ever seen Dean Evason smile during a game. He was enjoying the passion on the ice and the atmosphere it created in the building. The league has tried to make the game sterile and less combative which takes so much energy, drama, & honesty fun away from the players and the fans. Hockey needs and should be that way.
It’s way past getting old. I mean, if I was an opponent I just rile him up early on. Because he usually starts letting pucks by him when he gets fired up.
Sure, maybe it gets team fired up but have they came back and won a game where he threw a tantrum?
The difference is Binnington did it vs defenseman otherwise it’s an 80s/90s situation your team would have 3-4 times a season. Hit the goalie and there’ll be a scrum.
I don’t fault the linesman – had to get the hothead and wouldn’t have a job if he lets go. But, goalie fight would have been amazing. Next time Faulk needs to channel his inner Pronger so he can start and we can get the goalie fight
To each their own, but I’d rather have a pro goalie that demands respect with his play instead of skating around raising his arms like he did something after giving up a bunch of goals and getting kicked out. Weird flex.
