Habs Thoughts – Joel Armia UFA Deal or No Deal

OK, so in this video, we take a look at Joel Armia, a Montreal Canadien 3rd line forward who is set to become an NHL unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. There has been no indication of contract talks thus far between Marc Bergevin and Joel Armia’s camp, and with other Restricted free agents to deal with, along with Phil Danault and Tomas Tatar, one has to wonder if Joel Armia may be playing his last few games as a member of the Habs.

So in this Habs Thoughts video, I break down my opinion on how I feel about Joel Armia as a player, and discuss his value to the team.

  1. THERE YOU ARE, im accustomed to a certain amount of hockey junkie videos! dont dissapear on us and get a life now!
    us grasshoppers need guidance

  2. Nope… Nope… Nope! Get em outta here! This man is a flipping magician, he has a fabulous disappearing act!

  3. It would depend on how much he wants…he is a good checker and puck handler…but he is inconsistent. For 2 million as a third liner, then he is a good addition.

  4. Show idea: Marc Bergevin's contract's up at the end of this year too!! What do u think the Habs will do? A lot will be riding on how far they get in this years playoffs, if we do end up beating the Leafs, then I think they renew his contract. I wish they wouldn't, I dont know what else they have to see, the guy did nothing for 6 years, then all of a sudden it's a contract year, and he all of a sudden turns into GM of the year! Making deals, spending every cent they have available to him, and then some. What about the last 4 or 5 years, we had at least $6m left over that we could have spent to help the team, but Bergevin decided screw it, we r good enuf, i guess. I dont know if Bergevin has pictures of Molson with some less then…female play mates!! lol, and he is like if u fire me, i leak the pics of u and the whole Bruins defensive core getting it on!! lol. Habs really need a whole complete change, from Molson to Bouchard. (although id probably keep Bouchard), he seems like one of the only ones to have their head on right in the whole organization. But everyone else, NEEDS to go. And last but not least, i feel so bad for Price in nets standing on his head, to have the team score one goal a night, come on boys, he ain't got many of these years left, if any after this one!! A good GM would have recognized that Price is nearing the lower part of his career, and done more to make the team better to facilitate Price's remaining years that he is amazing. Anyway i could go on all night, but this is so long now, no one will probably read it anyway!! lol. Later Junkie, keep up the content. And do u ever think of putting some clips in the videos, i could watch that Cole Caufield feed to Suzuki every 15 minutes if i had to!!! Later man, keep up the content.

  5. Great 👍job , 👏, I ld keep Armia over Danault, any day the week . Yes the hab players all fall in this category, because we have nothing but 3 rd liners. At least he produces more than player s like Danault, and his contract is a lot less . He s very strong on the puck ,so where he s so much cheaper, and does a little more than other s with his inconsistencies, he at least plays at his contract level. He s fine for the third line. Once we dump Danault, and put Evan's in Danault s place ,I think Armia, and Lechonen would be good line mates for the third line. Good to see you back today .great work 💪.

  6. Love incarnate, love divine

Star and angels gave the sign

Bow to babe on bended knee

    The Savior of HABmanity

Unto us a Child is born

    He shall reign forevermore

    Joel, Joel

Come and see what God has done

    Joel, Joel

    The story of amazing love!

The light of the world, given for us

    JOEL!

    Never deal a savior

  7. Gut reaction, no. With some thought, at want cost? What is out there that can replace him? I'd love him on the 4th line – where it doesn't matter if he scores every 15 games. He is super frustrating

  8. he doesn’t make any mistakes in the d zone and he puts up some decent numbers offensively I would give him 4×3 that’s just me

  9. if we trade armia, we might as well trade lehkonen and kotka for a real big difference maker.
want a 3rd line pk? well take your PLD, well take your Jack E, well take that huberdeau. lets make another suepr GMMB move. we cant keep 6 RWs

  10. Its really weird I think he’s never bad for the team, but 2/3 games he’s juste not existant, I like his play along the board, he’s good on pk, he’s a right wing annd if we loose tatar and drouin, we need some right wing to go left wing. Tough call, but if he asks under 3 million per year and we have the cap space, I’d sign him

  11. He’s juste so frustrating I feel like he could actually dominate in the league and be a 1st liner, but he just doesn’t use his potentiel as much as he should do

  12. His name should be Joel Enigma…I just don't get it with this guy…sometimes he is invisible, other times he skates around the ice with the puck on his stick for entire shifts like he is playing keep away with a bunch of five years olds. I mean, we have seen him single-handedly kill off entire penalties…we could have had 4 guys in the box and just Armia and Price on the ice and still killed it off. Then you go for a stretch of two weeks where it seems like you completely forget he's on the team cuz you don't even hear his name in the play by play.

  13. " Jonathan Drouin signed a 6 year / $33,000,000 contract with the Montreal Canadiens, including $33,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $5,500,000. "

    Nuff said.

  14. The cap is gunna be very strict again, we need all the cash we can and to use it wisely. I think letting tstar danault and other walk is a good idea. I feel Suzuki can now center the first line and have a full season as 1st line center, kk on thr 2nd and phoeling on the 3rd with Evans on the 4th. Armia would be a good cheap 3rd line winger but I wouldn't pay him more than 2 million
