Let’s go over what was said on Spectors Hockey as to Montreal Canadiens captain Shea Weber, and how, apparently, he was almost traded to the Arizona Coyotes.

Lego as a habs fan I am disappointed.. but we will get a good enough pick this year we will survive
I think if the deal gets done there'll be at least a 25% retainment. And then a smaller time sweetener will be given up
I thought Weber could never play an NHL game again, but he could boost the coyotes defense a little
The name I hear that was mentioned in the add-on for Weber trade was Logan Mailloux and I guess the Habs were not keen on adding him to the trade.
Too me i would have send weber with a 1st round pick for nothing just to get rid of him ASAP instead of getting the useless Dvorak
I will say this: Habs ain't doing that however the yotes are a smart organization.
They're holding out for Tyler Myers LMFAO.
Weber is more valuable than Little because of his salary, its way lower
Steve Dangle, on deadline day, claimed that he had heard that the Montreal- Arizona trade for Weber was squashed by the leagues b/c it didn't "look good". He went on to say that the trade with Winnipeg was allowed b/c it didn't attract as much attention.
Here is the thing about the whole Shea Weber deal and trading him to Arizona…he’s still has four year left on his deal…four. Bryan Little has two more after this year and then he’s done. Montreal fans aren’t going to want to hear this but…it is going to take A LOT more than what you’re offering Lego…like a lot more.
Nathan Smith was a 50 point NCAA guy who by the way has been at a half point per game for the Yotes and looks like a promising playmaker all around. I mean you are talking about at least the signing rights to Stapley AND Guhle AND an option to pick swap and have Arizona swap one of their firsts for one of Montreal’s firsts (not the lottery one obviously).
That’s a lot of stuff…but you’re asking the Yotes to take on nearly 8 million a year for four more years, and we can sit here and talk about how they have to reach the floor anyway, but you also have to remember that there is already talks of not letting them partake in the revenue sharing program until he new arena is built.
I think it’s far more likely we see a swap closer to the OEL move last year. Basically the Coyotes would take on the contract of Shea Weber and Paul Byron, the Habs would end up getting Chychrun, and Montreal would end up putting pieces together to give a great overall package to Arizona.
If I were the Kraken though I would be beating down the door to make this move before Arizona, they messed up passing on Tarasenko, Duchene, and Price…might as well sit down and take Weber’s contract and load up your team. It works marketing wise too because he might get an office job or something
What you arent thinking about is the money arizona will save by having him on the roster. it would save them 28 million
check out the rumor supplied by Steve Dangle. Said the League vetoed the trade due to optics
Except Little's caphit (or LTIR cap relief) is $5.291m for the next 2 years, while being paid a total of $8.5m in actual money. Weber's caphit (or LTIR cap relief) is $7.857m for the next 4 years (assuming he doesn't retire or that the NHL doesn't intervene in some ways), while being paid a total of $6.0m in actual money. One is much more valuable than the other, no ?
