Good. Good. Schmid needs a few in a row. Vitek needs a break. I think he’s feeling the pressure of being “the guy”.

On one hand I think VV needs a break, but I also feel like he needs to play to work through whatever is in his head
Let’s hope this helps VV reset. I don’t really want a goalie controversy heading to the playoffs. If it turns out Schmid is still hot in a month, fine, but I do hope VV still gets consistent games to settle down. He got us to 3rd in the league, I feel like we can afford to lose a couple spots there before we move on.

VV needs a couple games off to lessen the pressure but the defense needs to wake up as well. Lot of bad turnovers and sloppy play

Vitek could definitely use a break— defense has been making stupid plays and leaving him out to dry for a while now. He actually looked pretty good in the game against Toronto, made some really big saves. At least 3 goals against were more on idiot D play than anything he did.
First, that tip in from Jarnkrok right on our doorstep with no covered, Second, that abysmal pass on the PP to send the puck right to Marner, of all people you don’t want on a breakaway 1 on 1 with the goalie it’s him and Jack Hughes. And don’t even get me started on leaving Auston Matthews wide open in the slot on a late 3rd period PK. That’s fucking idiot hockey

Two things for my little two cent addition. I think he definitely can use the game off. We’ve seen Schmid play great in some games and bailed us out against the Avs. I think the game off is good for VV. And if it doesn’t help. we need to get Schmid as much action as possible before the playoffs start. You can definitely make an argument that giving VV more games can help him through whatever is going on mentally (goalies amirite!?) but I think it’s better to start getting Schmid more action. Especially with the slate of schedule we have. Not the same as the playoffs but the intensity will be there this next month and he will need more of a taste of that. I have no faith in Blackwood coming back off injury playing cold in the playoffs. Schmid deserves some work, Vitek deserves some rest for how amazing he’s played the majority of this season. Lets go fucking wreck the Caps.
Maybe Schmid for 2 games then VV back for the canes unless Akira posts a doughnut.
Hopefully he can convince the forwards to backcheck and actually cover the open guys in front of the net.
I love VV and he’s been a revelation but I also have confidence in Schmid stepping in fully if needed. I think he can be that good for us. Get him all the reps.
