[Lazerus] Connor Murphy expects all his teammates to participate fully in Pride Night on March 26. “It is a bit disappointing,” he said of those who haven’t. “It seems like we have so many other nights, and nobody raises any issues.”

That’s our alternate Captain! Murph seems like such a good person…we’re lucky to have him helping lead these new group of guys.

  2. I fucking love Murphy.

I really hope this team can turn it all around and be a contender again while he is with us – he’s been a great leader and role model since the day he came to Chicago and he deserves to play meaningful games.

Give him the C (assuming Toews is gone)!

Love Murph, this franchise has been tough to be fans of the past few years, but glad we’ve got a good one in him

This is great to see for multiple reasons, but one of them is that it’s nice for the Hawks to be on the right side of something morally. Their reputation these days is so (understandably) tarnished, but I’m glad we have guys like Murphy on the team now who will do the right thing.

Class fucking act right there. Murph is a great leader.

Seems like he will make a great Captain when JT retires

This is the exact kind of leader you want when developing young talent through a rebuild. Setting the right example.

    Give him the C

    Edit: (in Toews’ absence)

That’s my defenseman! keep the same energy for all other special nights if y’all only have issue talking about this one.

    >It seems we have so many other nights and nobody raises any issues.

How many of those issues are political and clash with various religions?

I personally am not religious and would participate in Pride night. But I don’t like putting these players in a position where they have to choose between their religion and a political statement at a sporting event.

Why don’t we push for NFL and NBA teams to wear rainbow jerseys? 👀

    For those asking “Why?”

5 states have already passed 7 anti-LGBTQ laws, 312 anti-LGBTQ bills in 34 states are already advancing in state legislatures, those bills are *just from this legislative session alone*, and an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States has already called on his fellow justices to overturn *Laurence* (decriminalized same-sex activity), *Obergefell* (legalized same-sex marriage), and *Griswold* (legalized contraception).

This is why it’s important to take a stand, no matter how small, for human rights. The attack is already happening.

Made the mistake of accidentally seeing this same headline on Twitter. Thanks for not being Twitter guys

Wild to me how many players and orgs can’t wear a rainbow jersey to simply support a group of people. Glad our boys are standing up.

The “A” is for Ally. Based Murph.

  17. captain behavior from murph. I could see him getting the C if Toews retires.

Murphy is a good dude. The only ones I could see having a problem is the new Russian player (given its been other Russian players on teams), or the Jones brothers especially Caleb given his Twitter activity. But even Caleb liked a few NHL pride tweets back in 2020 when it wasn’t a problem.
