  1. Hey Ray, isn’t this nearly the exact scenario (or close to it) that you articulated just recently in a Washington post ?

  2. Happy they held DeBrusk. Was concerned he would go. Defensive depth is a bit nuts for Boston with both Reilly and Stralman buried in AHL, and now both Zboril and Grzelcyk getting scratched. Expect they will move a D-man. Hard to mess with what has been the leagues best GAA, but … they have done that.

  3. Bruins have both 93 points, and a goal differential of +93, more than 2X any other team on that latter metric

  4. I wish the Caps would’ve gotten another 2nd or a prospect (other than Lysell, I know he’s their top prospect and it’s a shallow pool). But overall still a good return!

  5. The Bruins are all in. Big disappointment for them and their fans if they do not hoist the cup. But there have been many disappointments in the NHL. The last Presidents Trophy winner to hoist the Cup happened in 2013 – Blackhawks.

  6. caps fan here, smart move for caps getting rid of orlovs 5.1 million dollar salary. got alot in return for him. they need to get younger. Hoping a few more older players get traded also. would love to see Backstrom retire, hes just not the same and his caps hit is very high. he had a great career but hoping he retires after this season to free up cap space

  7. By blowing up the roster, Washington has thrown in the towel on this year, and quite possibly Ovie's quest for immortality!

  8. Can we just appreciate the fact that if not for Yzerman and the Lightning we would not see any of these 3 way deals that involve a third team just being used for cap? Genius

  9. Objectively Minnesota won this trade and the ROR trade. Minnesota just getting draft picks for basically existing is pretty funny.

  10. Boston now has two D they can relay on, just like you need. But it doesn't guarantee anything.

  11. Hathaway was one I hoped they would give an extension to. He has been fantastic since coming to the Capitals. He's somewhat of a late bloomer and 432 GP is not a lot compared to most 31 year old's around the league. Tom Wilson for instance, is 2 years younger and has played 226 more games. Hathaway still has a lot of tread on his tires.

  12. It is a shame to see them go, because i liked their gameplay and it means the season is done. But It makes sense to do it. Painful but the right move. Now we just need to find a GM who is daft enough to take on Eller and Mantha. 10 years of caps games and i have not seen players that frustrating.

  13. I’m happy for the Caps. Not for Don Sleezebag or Sleezeney or Sweezenozzle.

  14. The Caps got a lot but the Bruins WILL benefit greatly here short term. Orlov was clearly their best all-around D & Hathaway is a Heart-and-soul gritty player.

  15. Why can’t the caps trade ovie? He gave Washington 18 years. Twice as long as Gretzky was in Edmonton. Fans should not be mad if he were to finish up somewhere else and maybe win a cup AND get the goals record. He will likely score goal nr. 895 on the road anyway and the caps can get a lot for him. Trading him NOW would be smart.

  16. Hathway is one of the players that gives a gritty effort day in and day out. Orlov when healthy (and he did have an injury this year) is solid and can hit in open ice like back in the day.

  17. Being a Bruins fan I love this move. Love both guys and how nasty they can be. Now, also being a bruins fan I know how great teams get sent home early. Hope this year the boys go all the way. 🤞
